Caroline, York Multi-purpose viewer

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Good picture in varying light, good sound quality, very sleek and stylish with basic features that won't be old hat in a year's time.
Bad points:
Turning the sound up and down - there's virtually no difference in sound level with it being on 50 (the set's average) and 35, and the speed at which it takes to decrease/increase the volume is somewhat reminiscent of an arthritic pensioner negotiating a steep hill. Far quicker to just mute and get the subtitles up.
TV guide - there's two problems. Firstly, you have to scroll through every single channel rather than selecting a specific number or being able to scroll by the page. So if you're watching BBC1 and want to check what's on ITV4, there's a lot of button pressing. The other problem is when there's a change of programme and you're midway through looking at what else is on, the cursor gets automatically dragged back to your original channel. It's very annoying when you've gone from BBC1 aiming for E4 for example, and only get to More4 before having to start over again. Even more frustrating, it can do this a few times. In the end, it's quicker to flick through all the channels and read the now and next info at the top of the screen.
