Digital Cameras Buyers' Guide

Manufacturer's Description

The Finepix S2950 really packs a punch with its’ generous 18x Fujinon optical zoom lens, a 14 megapixel sensor, large 3.0" LCD screen plus electronic viewfinder and 720p HD (30fps) movie capture. The S2950 includes high ISO sensitivity settings and Fujifilm’s Dual Image Stabilisation technology to reduce the blurring effects of both hand-shake and subject movement to provide superb pictures.

Large Monitor and Electronic Viewfinder
The Finepix S2950 has both an electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 200k dot resolution and a 3.0” LCD screen with 230k dot resolution. Whichever you prefer to use, you can be sure of a detailed and accurate display.

18x Fujinon Zoom Lensbr /> The extra long Fujinon lens on this camera has an extra smooth motorised zoom mechanism and covers the equivalent of 28-504mm on a 35mm camera. If you were to cover this focal length range on an SLR or system camera then the cost could run into thousands of pounds. There is of course the added benefit of not needing to remove lenses which would expose the image sensor to dust.

HD Movies and Full HD stills
The Finepix S2950 can record 720p HD Movies at 30frames per second for a detailed, smooth result. As well as being able to view your movies on a HDTV (with optional HDMI cable) you can view Full HD Stills too.

Easy upload to Facebook and YouTube
Tag your images and the in-camera My FinePix Studio software uploads automatically when connected to a PC. You can also prepare a photobook in-camera with Photobook Assistant – you can even mimic the turning of pages on-screen in Photobook mode.

Dual Image Stabilisation
For sharp, steady results, even at long focal lengths, the S-2950 has Dual Image Stabilisation. This includes mechanical correction plus high ISO (can be extended all the way up to 6400 at reduced resolution).

Motion Panorama
Combines three images for stunning panoramas. The job is made easier for the photographer with an automatic release of the shutter when images are in alignment.

Smiles All Round!
The Face Detection mode on the S2950 also includes Smile and Shoot Mode. This automatically fires the shutter as your subject breaks into a smile. Also includes Blink Detection which will warn you when it’s likely your subject has blinked during a photo being taken.

Additional Features

14 Megapixels
Uses standard AA batteries
SR Auto (Scene Recognition Auto) – automatically detects the type of image being photographed and sets the camera up for the best possible results
Full Manual Control option
Tracking AF – subject stays in focus for as long as it remains in the frame
Auto Rotate – flips your image if you turn the camera on its end
