Good points:
Exelent scanning of slides, which is the main pupose for which I use the scanner. And 12 at one time makes it possible to scan so much more easily than with my previous "one at a time" scanner.
Bad points:
When studying the pre-view, (available in either "Thumbnail" or "Normal"), the large thumbnails - the format where it is easiest to see and modify the images to be scanned - are all cropped. It is not possible to obtain an uncropped thumbnail, which means that an important area of a tight image may have been cropped off. To get uncropped images, a marquee has to be drawn around the very small "Normal" views of each slide. This is not a disaster, as I do all the necessary image manipulation in Photoshop, including cropping off the edges of the slides that now show in the scans, but it is a nuisance as I am sure the software designers could have incorporated a "no crop" command.

Good points:
This is a well built product which is partly let down by the flimsy holders for negatives and transparency.Since this is almost certainly the application that this product will be used for it seems a real shame.
The Epson software is easy to use and produces good results.
Being able to scan 12 slides, 24 35mm negatives and two strips of medium format is excellent.Set it going and go and do something else.
Bad points:
Poor Silverfast software. For me, if basic operation of software requires reading a manual then it goes in the bin. This software is in the bin.
More effort should be made to make Linux software available, it's the future :-)
Poor film holders.
Poor focussing system for film holders.

Good points:
I was quite astonished at just how well it works, however, this is with all the simple tasks it has performed. I have not yet tried scanning old black and white negatives and colour negatives so I might have to up-date this later. Overall I am very please with it so far.
Bad points:
None that I have discovered.
