Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Great power and all the settings you need for whatever you want to use it for.
Changing bits is easy as is a collet change.
The weight is both good and bad for stability - good if you are careful and set up jigs on narrow wood but can be bad if you aren't experienced.
Robust and good value.
It has converted me to DeWalt products.
Bad points:
The weight is an issue if you are not experienced - get yourself a lighter router.
The handles are plastic, I would have expected rubber but this is a minor point.
The worst feature is the quick release nut on the stop shaft - you can set it but slightest touch on the mechanism will release it so you have to set it up again. I've even had it slip when the router was turned off and I was nowhere near it! This should be redesigned.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
The router has unbelievable power!

I upgraded to this from a B&Q special which I was previously happy with, however it died after 18 months, and assumed its limitations were limitations with routing full stop - I was wrong! This DeWalt has handled everything I've thrown at it so far from fiddly edge bevelling to pretty hefty template routing with ease.

The on/off switch is in the right place, all of the depth controls etc are in the right place, and its easy to change the bit (on a bench).

The router came with a 1/4" collet as well as a 1/2" as standard which meant that all of my old bits were compatible, its also possible to get an 8mm for about £25.

So far I have had no doubts that it'll more than capably handle any of my 1/4" bits from straight to slightly more fancy panel moulding ones, my collection of 1/2" bits is ever growing and again I suspect it'll manage even the broadest of bits with ease.

The router itself is capable of being used either table mounted or 'free hand' although the weight means that if used free hand it'll need to be well supported.

The parallel guide is well built and robust, if a little stiff for the first couple of uses.

I'm just about to build a table to put it in and I suspect it'll excel when mounted...

This router is more capable than me and I suspect it'll continue to surprise over the coming years as my skill level grows.
Bad points:
The main bad point I would mention is the weight - this is a powerful machine and as a result it's heavy, it is easily possible to use 'free hand' however if you're looking for a router to perform intricate detailing in isolation this probably isn't the router for you - it'll need to be well supported across the base or you'll tire quickly and make a mistake!? For template routing etc (and probably table mounting) you're in the right place!

I would recommend getting a spare collet nut for each of the collets as it's a bit tricky getting the collet out and you might damage it resulting to pliers to remove - spare nuts are on ebay for literally a couple of £, definitely worth the investment.

From what I can see there doesn't appear to be a lot, if any, DeWalt guide bushes available on the market (there is a DeWalt 30mm bush included). If you use Trend guide bushes (or have some from a previous router) you'll need to get a UniBase to allow them to be fitted - not the end of the world but adds an extra level of faff when switching between guide bush and parallel guide / table mount etc.

If you're looking to table mount there is no 'out of the box' way of adjusting the depth from above the table - the options are either adjust from below the table, or buy a kit such as the 'Router Raizer' to allow adjustment from above. I'm going to try the first and see how I get on however I suspect it might be a little fiddly and may resort to option 2.

The price - it isn't cheap. That said in comparison to its peers its not actually to bad. It works out about 6 times the price of my old B&Q special, however if for what ever reason it decided to roll over (and couldn't be fixed) I'd probably still go and buy another one!

The final point to mention is the size of the box (/ case) - if you're going to try and sneak it into the workshop without your significant other noticing they'd better be asleep! It's a fair size, not a box you can hide under your jacket..!

Good points:
Good general purpose router at a good price. Better than several which cost more.
Nice ballance and is a capable machine. Have several and only the Festool is better, but not at the price
Bad points:
The only fault in my opinion is the handles. They are uncomfortable after a short time.

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Robust construction. Quality product. Clear instructions. 3 year warranty!
One nice touch is that the off switch is easily operated by your thumb pushing down as the plunge release is operated and the router rises.
Bad points:
The carrying case could be slightly more robust.
You have to completely disassemble the router to fit it back into its carrying case.
