Good points:
I bought these Denon speakers to pair with a new Denon DM38 Dab/CD mini hifi unit. The denon speakers normally recommended for this unit are the model below the SCF107's - the SCM37. However I was impressed by the SCF107's frequency response specifications at 40hz to 40 khz and the size was a tad bigger which fitted the space available just right. Having run them for about a month I have now used the the sound from the DM38 and the SCF107's. I tried some Mordaunt Short 901's and Tannoy Mercury F1's on the DM38 and they sounded great with it. The SCF107's have a really good bass extension and I tried positioning them in the listening space with the port bungs out to start with. After a bit it was clear the bass seemed dominant so I tried them with the bungs in which tidied the low end up considerably. Piano music, classical guitar and vocals were excellent with everything being very detailed with a good soundstage. After a couple of weeks I felt the sound warmed and was less clinical in the high treble. After 4 weeks I removed the bungs again and now the bass has real support in the lower end without muddying. The combination of the DM38 with the SCF107's works very well and like most new hifi purchases, you have to get used to it for while before judging critically. Nicely made and finished with an audiophile flavour about them, good sized terminals and reasonable quality supplied cable. They go quite loud and remain in control all of the time. I used some spare higher quality Chord speaker cables and the combination seems really good. I'm very pleased with these speakers and listen to them daily with no fatigue.
Bad points:
If pairing these speakers with the DCenon DM38 I would suggest you do not use the preset EQ setting that matches the unit with the SCM37's. Leaving everything flat, including the superbass feature gives a great, quality sound with the SCF107's.
