Score 6.0/10
Good points:
Nice sleek silver unit, easy to set up with 'quick out of the box' instructions. This model allows you to record from the TV, video player and another DVD player. Added bonus (for some) is the Freeview capabilty.

Once you've recorded once or twice you do get the hang of the other functions, such as putting in your own chapter markers, but it does need a bit of playing around with.

The recording quality is good, as is the sound quality. I would advise other customers to check your film/show has recorded properly (pop the disc into another player or PC/laptop), before deleting from your TV planner and remember to Finalise the disc!

We bought this model mainly due to the price, I would recommend it for quality of recording and that's what matters.
Bad points:
The remote control is 'extremely' cheap - the look and feel is terrible. Setting the time you have to continuously press the rubbery buttons instead of just holding down the button like usual! It takes me back to when remote's first came out, shame on Daewoo for cutting corners!

The instruction book is quite good but it could put more info on the editing side of recording to a DVD. I have now folded the corners down on the two most used/needed pages (setting the DVD quality - length of time p.28 & DVD editing - Chapter Markers p.47). Hubby would struggle with it if I wasn't here, so I think people who find technology hard will take a while longer to get to grips with the instructions.

Although for some the Freeview might be useful, for us with Sky TV we don't really need it, unfortunately as soon as you turn on the machine it wants to scan for a picture. The only way to get out of this is to proceed with the scan but then abort it, then save. I know once you've tuned in the Freeview it wouldn't ask you again, but for those with no outside aerial (and with Sky), you have to go through this procedure each time its turned on! It would be nice if the user could turn off the Freeview until needed.

All said I would still recommend this to friends & family as they probably won't find a cheaper DVD recorder with Freeview out there at the moment?

peter, Twyford, Berks. Retired broadcast engineer

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
It tunes in to all available freeview channels fairly quickly. Instructions are clear. Makes good quality recordings on SP (up to 2 hrs). Haven't tried LP. Enables you to title your recorded disk.
Bad points:
Cooling fan is a bit noisey and can spoil your enjoyment if you're watching the programme you're recording. When re-titling a recorded disk, the machine does sometimes lock up and has to be re-booted (ie switched off and then on again).
