Most helpful reviews

Michael, Birmingham Semi-professional

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Easy to install, compatible with windows 7 (but only when the updated drivers were downloaded from the website). Good quality of performance, providing much flexibility according to which types of music or voice recordings are being played. good sound-surround capabilities and clever channel-tracing function provided.
Bad points:
Bundled CD almost useless - had to download Windows 7 compatible software from the Net. No connector provided for front-of computer headphone jack. Microphone jack does not appear to work.

Good points:
I knew before purchasing this product that it was a rebadged Audigy SE, though it does seem to have a few more transistors. I was also unsure about hardware/software features but Creative assured me that the 3D effects and the Crystaliser used hardware. I did note that on the option to change the audio output from 16bit to 24bit it does tell you it might slow your cpu a bit. Though I am not a big games player and the sound sounded fine on The Sims 3, but I can't comment on another releases. The other features worked fine and it produced a nice clear sound and worked with my new operating system, Windows 7.
Bad points:
I previously had the original Live! card and frequently got a blue screen of death whilst booting up as I was using an old driver. I have noticed sometimes when booting up there has been a problem with the soundcard. Maybe it's my resources or something similar but it's not hard to reinstall and reboot but annoying. The lack of EAX in hardware doesn't bother me, I'm not a big game player, but if you have spent your money on a high-spec computer (I didn't) I'm wondering why you're considering skimping on the soundcard.

Good points:
once you can finally get it installed its ,, fairly straight forward to use.. but for me it would not install correctly in the windows 7 .. and when you download the latest drivers for windows 7 . you cannot get what you hear/ stereo mix. which is ah common thing for creative technology products. eg the sounblaster family. deliberate I have been informed,, also the above soundcard IS NOT AN SOUNDBLASTER.. its uses the CA chip , not emu chip .. so people in my opiniom are being hoodwinked into thinking they wil recieve the legendary SB performence .. sorry to say it falls short on that score
