Good points:
I have always wanted a tilt and shift lens, and bought the 24mm TS-E after using the usual wide zooms for a series of images of various buildings for a calendar. The images were ok with the zooms, but the buildings were usually too high up the image. On impulse I purchased the 24mm TS-E, and problem solved. Getting correct exposure with shift in use was solved by making several images at one third stop increments up to two stops increase. A decent level is essential on the camera, as is a grid focusing screen.Brilliant piece of kit, and I cannot wait to use it for landscapes. It is worth putting on the larger adjustment wheel supplied as the controls can be a bit fiddly, but you soon get used to these. The adjustments are smooth and fine, and the locking wheels do not interfere with adjustments once made. For anyone interested in travel photography this lens could be really useful. My lens is used with a Canon D1s MK2, and would be easier to use with Live View on say a MK3 or 5D MK2.

Good points:
Excellent image quality all of the image circle. No distortion. Rather easy and quickly to use all functions. Smoothly focusing ring, but it could be even more 'fixed' for unwanted focus. Heavy, not at all.
Bad points:
Maximum shift cause a tiny softness to the extreme corners.

Good points:
Depth of field, vertical correction, I particularly like the horizontal shift for sewing landscapes together... altogether a lovely lens.
Bad points:
I've had trouble getting the exposure right a few times - but it's all very new for me, it just means that I have to return to my more historical methods ie - a light meter!

Manufacturer's Description

The high performance, wide-angle lens with exceptional tilt and shift range.

Expanding the possibilities for tilt and shift photography
The TS-E 24 mm f/3.5L II allows tilt and shift movements to be made independently of each other. This means perspective and depth of field can be controlled separately, vastly enhancing lens flexibility.

Widest range of movement
A wide-angle focal length of 24mm, combined with ±8.5° of tilt and ±12mm shift makes the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II a versatile optic. Furthermore, ±90° of rotation on both the tilt and the shift mechanisms is available. The lens also features locks on the tilt and shift mechanisms to ensure unwanted movements are avoided.

High precision lens elements
A high-precision, large-diameter moulded glass aspherical lens element gives outstanding edge-to-edge resolution and low distortion. Chromatic aberration – common in wide-angle shooting – is combated by four UD (ultra low-dispersion) elements.

Subwavelength structure coating
Designed for use in digital photography, Canon’s patented lens element coating helps minimise the ghosting and flare caused by internal reflection and helps to deliver crisp, clear images.

Robust build quality
Canon L-series lenses are built to withstand regular use in the most testing environments. Weather and dust seals provide added protection. A lens hood and pouch are also included.

Lead-free optics
Environmentally friendly lead-free glass is used throughout the construction of the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II.
