Score 2.0/10
Good points:
In daylight lighting conditions it works very well
Bad points:
I bought this for it's low light performance, and it's ability to work with my ipad. Low light is not good and to connect it to your ipad, you have to have it on a very low quality. It does connect ok with wifi though.
Even on low quality the image is very jerky. My ipad did work as a remote control which is what I wanted, but as I said, only on low quality so no good.

I exchanged it for a Canon HF G25 which is incredible and has a wireless remote.

Camcorders Buying Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Allowing you to capture full HD video via it’s 1/4.85" CMOS sensor, your videos will capture every detail of the scene you’re shooting and allow you to look back and reminisce in remarkable clarity.

With several nifty features to ensure that the footage you record will be something you’ll want to watch again and again, the LEGRIA HFR48 takes the hard work out of video shooting and lets you concentrate on capturing the details that matter.

Utilizing Optical intelligent Image stabilization, camera shake is dealt with via one of 4 different stabilization modes, counteracting any excessive movement and reducing blur. With an advanced dynamic mode that corrects the picture of any rolling or tilting movements that occur during walking, you can be sure that your focus will be right on target.

Working together with the Image stabilizer is a powerful DIGIC DV4 imaging processor. Helping make your videos look their very best, it provides a significant reduction in image distortion as well as helping video taken in low light situations come out at the best possible quality.

Share your shots

The LEGRIA HF R48 allows you to simultaneously record in dual formats – AVCHD and MP4 are both supported. With one shot, you can have video that is perfect for uploading to social media websites as well as also having superb high quality footage that is perfect for showcasing your best work.

Using built in WiFi functionality, you can stream live video from your HF R48 to compatible Android and iOS devices allowing you, or others to monitor and remotely control the video feed. With the added ability to connect to and share your footage effortlessly with DLNA enabled televisions, it’s never been easier to show your videos to those who matter.

Capture childhood moments

If you’re the proud parent of a recently born child, track their important milestones with the baby mode. Enter the date of birth of your child into the camera and add colourful labels for their height and weight. All footage can then automatically be sorted to the baby album, allowing you to look back at a later date and easily access all your favourite moments.

Brilliant sound

Recognising that sound is an important part of any scene, the HF R48 comes with an advanced audio scene selector. Simply choose from one of 5 different settings and the audio recording is optimized to best suit the situation. So whether you’re at a wedding, an important football match or recording an epic version of your favourite song live, you’ll be sure to capture the sound the way it’s supposed to be heard.
