Howard, London Experienced amateur

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
The ability of the 500D to re-focus and re-expose each shot during burst photography. This means for the first time I can capture birds and insects (and planes at airshows) in flight and see things not visible to the naked eye.
The 18-200 lens is really versatile and for medium and long distance shots, produces really sharp photos.
Compared with my compact cameras, including a Lumix LX3, the 500D takes really high quality photos right up to ISO 1600.
Bad points:
It seems to over-expose, especially when taking objects against a bright light ie the sky.
The 18-200 lens is not at its best when photographing near objects.
