Good points:
Great zoom, for capturing faces without getting in their face! Fast lens, so at 2.8 you can hand hold with IS on and still get good results. Superb build quality. Robust and rugged.
Bad points:
Heavy (not too bad if you're used to other zooms or the 85mm 1.2L I've got. But adds a bit of weight to your bag).

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
This is by far the sharpest lens I have ever seen. Results have to be seen to be believed, even wide open @ f/2.8. The IS works very well and makes this a great walk around lens given the shutter speeds you can achieve. The lens works well for wildlife and even portraiture where you want a nicely out of focus background and bokeh (something this lens excels at.)

The weight isn't really noticeable once you've been using it for a while. The build quality is what you come to expect from L series glass. The lens even works well with the 2X extender though expect some drop off in sharpness and remember you'll lose 2 stops.

I have a great collection of images taken with this lens now ranging from wildlife, architecture, portraiture and landscape work. By far my favourite lens from Canon.

Neil, Bristol Profesional photographer

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Superb optics and image quality in a very fast telephoto lens. It handles smoothly and build quality is excellent. It's a well known choice for professional photographers and works very well in wedding and event settings. I have only had it for about 6 weeks so no complaints thus far with the performance.
Bad points:
Just one point.. it's expensive.
