Score 6.0/10
Good points:
Email access anywhere; full QWERTY keyboard; satnav (although it would have been nice if Google Maps had been pre-installed - the Blackberry maps have a lot less detail); ability to connect through wifi as well as the mobile phone network. The ability to put an 8gb flash memory card in it is also very useful.
Bad points:
Battery life (I've had three days at most so far); interface with PC. The software needed to synchronise with Outlook is a serious memory hog, and the process of upgrading the firmware and applications in the Blackberry itself is difficult and time-consuming. Also, the satnav maps have to be downloaded at the point of use - it doesn't allow you to store a complete set of maps in the device, like an in-car satnav does. The media player won't play FLV or WMA video files.

Catherine, Edinburgh

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Fantastic with full qwerty keyboard that is much easier to use if you have big fingers [one big 'against' for not buying an iphone]. Expandable memory. Loads of programs and add ons that can be downloaded. Software being continually created such as media sync for itunes. Easy to use. Screen still readable in bright sunlight. Great sound level. Can set it to turn off and on overnight.
Bad points:
The phone has a tendancy to hang when unlocking the keypad which requires a switch off / restart

Score 5.0/10
Good points:
Email works and links to calendar in Exchange
Bad points:
Can't send contacts in SMS, cant forward email as SMS or vice versa, key's too close together, processor underpowered.
If I had an approved alternative I would use it. Looks like I might be able to go for an iPhone in 6 months or so when our compnay OKs it.
