Score 10.0/10
Good points:
excellent, compact workstation for general and software development work, very small footprint for limited desk space, virtually silent, 64bit, easy access to connections/drive slots, up-to-date monitor connectivity, sufficient harddrive space and RAM, runs Windows 7 64bit and other 64bit software fine, good sound and graphics, nice price for the specs. Windows 7 Home Premium was upgraded by me to Professional and the other bundled software was not needed, but otherwise would have been fine to get the standard user started. It's doing the job I bought it for and performing to expectations.
Bad points:
no internal expandability if needed (wasn't by me) but this is obviously the expected price of small footprint , I/O switch can be a bit hesitant. Came with basic but, of course, expendable ball-mouse, so not really an issue.

Good points:
Speed wise I have no complaints about the Acer Aspire X1301 425 Recon its excellent speed wise due to its triple core processore running at 2.7Ghz and because of its HT capabilities.

Windows 7 Home Premimum is pre-installed as is some bundled software. It comes with a DL DVD Re-writer, setting up the wireless keyboard and mouse is easy just follow the enclosed instruction leaflet. Setting it up for the Internet was easy. I use a D-Link DSL-2640R Broadband Wireless G ADSL2+ Router with AOL Desktop. All you have to do is connect the router to the pc by following the instructions on the Easy-Install CD you get from AOL and the run the setup.exe file on the Easy-Install CD to install the drivers and setup the router, BTW the router was provided by AOL aswell. I don't know about other routers but according to AOL - Netgear, D-Link and Thompson SpeedTouch routers are supported by them. Just ignore the warnings that Windows 7 is not supported by AOL and just click 'Next' to continue with the installation. After setting up you'll be prompted to create Acer Factory Defult Recovery Disks, i recommed you do this when prompted using blank DVD+/-R SL 4.7GB 1-16x 120min discs. You'll need at least four discs. I also recommed that you download a copy of the latest version of System Mechanic and use this on a regular basis to keep your PC running like new. The latest version is compatible with Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit. Overall its an excellent buy and well worth the money.
Bad points:
Is the bundled software, it comes with Nero 9 Essentials, Microsoft Works SE and PowerDVD as well as Microsoft Office 2007 60-day Trial. Personally I would of liked the lastest version of Nero ie: v10 and Microsoft Office 2010 Full Version instead of v2007 60-day Trial. It also comes with McAfee Internety Security Suite for your peace of mind and protection when on line. Overall its only a small crumble, the bundled software could of been better by being the latest versions. But apart from that i have no other complaints. If your looking for a fast PC at a great price i say buy it because you won't be dissappointed.
