Good points:
Very useful as a media centre, and easier to handle than a laptop but with the same capabilities.

Bad points:
I am having difficulties in locating stores or outlets that sell the keyboard, they all seem to be out of stock and I feel it would complete the iconia.

Leon, Preston Business user

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
- Fantastic concept and device - LOVE IT
- Very well sized device, with excellent aesthetics (not something you normally say for a WinTel). Lighter than an iPad 2.
- Surprisingly responsive given the AMD C50 processor. Great performance with IE9, Office and Media Centre. Don't be fooled tho' - this will never be a laptop replacement!
- Windows 7 works better than expected in touch environment. It's not as sleek as IOS or Android, but it makes up for this on features and content. Running Windows gives unparalleled access to software - Apple/Google have their apps, but it's simply not on the same scale.
- Enterprise class device that can cross the consumer/commercial divide with ease - not something Apple or Google can claim just yet with their heavily focussed consumer devices
- Windows = Internet Explorer 9 = full, rich content browsing. Flash, Silverlight, Java, etc... all supported, just as you would expect on a PC. Don't like IE? Install Firefox, Chrome, Safari.......just like you would on your PC. I switch between IE and Firefox, each work well on the W500.
- The slate-netbook gimmick with the keyboard base works quite well, although be aware that it can be top heavy when docked.
- Battery life is very impressive. I regularly get 5-8hrs of use on mine. One full charge usually lasts a weekend of light use and sleeps.
Bad points:
- Acer's own Windows 7 Home Premium build has some incompatibilities with other software. Not a hardware problem, as it's great. Nor is it a Windows 7 issue, just an imaging problem from Acer. I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate and had no issues. Most unlikely to find this as it's a little niche, but would have preferred an untouched Windows install.
- OS a bit bloated with Acer's additional content; e.g. Office Pro Trial, McAfee, games, etc.. I didn't need these so had to remove. More preference really than product problem.
- Would like to have had the option of 3G - this is on the way in the W501 I believe, but at a Premium. For now it's tethered to an iPhone 3GS for Internet on the move.
- The keyboard docking station could do with a bit more weight in the base. When docked the W500 can be top heavy and topple over.
- A HDMI to DVI/VGA adapter would have been a great addition to the box, but this would probably lead to a much more expensive device
