Good points:
Only been using DSLR's for a year now but really needed a good tripod and this i have to say is a fantastic tripod. Very easy to use and very sturdy. Yes it is heavy but thats because its well built.
I bought a Giottos MH 1300-621 ball head to go with it from another company and it's a doddle to fit. Well happy with this tripod after being given advise by a pro. At a very reasonable price.
Bad points:
I suppose if you want to be negative it is heavy but i don't have a problem with that but i would say less able bodied would struggle lumping it about all day.

Good points:
Solid.
Bad points:
Tool to adjust the tension on the leg clamps clips to the tripod leg. Strongly suspect that this will be the first thing to be lost when anything catches the leg. The design of this part is almost an afterthought.
Grub screws to attach head are slotted - these would have been better as allen keys and should have had locking compound applied.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
I purchased this over the Manfrotto 190XPROB because of the extra height, and the 055XPROB is a tall tripod. I am 5 feet 11 inches and with both top and bottom legs fully extended and with the centre collum down, sitting my camera complete with battery grip attached, on top of this tripod I need to stand on tip toe to look through the view finder. I can get away with not having the bottom legs down and raising the centre collumn. Build quality is first class and the swinging centre collum is a nice and handy touch. If you spread the legs out as far as they can go and then raise the centre collum and put it in its horizontal position you can get some fantastic low level ground shots. One final point is the hook on one side of the tripod, so as you can hang a weight on the tripod to make it more stable when outside on windy days, a nice touch.
Bad points:
If I had to find a bad point I would say some people may find this tripod slightly heavy. Othder then that I can't find any bad points.
