A well designed, solidly built, quality cooker which put the others I saw in the showroom in the shade. The glass doors of the double ovens are brilliant; they close firmly without a tinny rattle that some others had. And of course it's great being able to watch what's cooking. I fell for the cooker at first sight and was relieved that Zanussi did it in the 55"width I needed for fitting in between the worktops. I loved my old, reliable Tricity President which I had for over 20 years but I wasn't too sad for long once I got used to the ceramic hob and fan oven cooking. I love cooking on this cooker and have been very pleased with the results. The flat

I like the positioning of the knobs on top but I do a lot of stir frying and splashing can be a problem. A clear protective shield over them would make it easier to wipe and maintain. Also a light displaying that the hobs are on (similar to the oven indicator lights) would be useful. Or a black 'dot' painted onto the all white indicator arrows of the knobs so that you can see easily where on the numerical 1-6 dial the cooker knobs are positioned.

The Zanussi ZKC5540X cooker is a stylish model that looks great in my kitchen. It has a large fan oven which cooks food nicely. It also has a timer facility to allow me to cook my food when I'm not at home.
-
I found it quite expensive. The design on the grillpan is simply awful. It comes with a detachable handle which is realy hard to fix to the grillpan. My partner burnt her hand under the grill while trying to put the handle on the grillpan while cooking. The grillpan keeps sliding further inside the grill when we try to attatch the handle because it fits so awkwardly. Now we have to use oven gloves to remove the grillpan while cooking food under the grill.

Well lit oven - able to see what's cooking.Looks good - most people comment how nice it looks. As it has a good energy rating it has taken a while to get used to cooking times for some things, but now feel it is a lot better on cooking most things.
-
On the controls for the hob the marks indicating the settings are quite difficult to see.Would have been useful to incorporate a different colour mark instead of having them all in black.
With the energy rating it has it really doesn't cook well if filled very full.

Good sized top oven.
Easy to use controls.

Because we use the top oven more often for grilling, it would be better if the grilling settings came first when rotating the control knob.
The feet only have limited height adjustment. We had to obtain another set of feet with longer screw lengths in order to raise the hob to the right height for our work surface.

Glossy dark finish shows every splatter of grease or fingerprint; Hob has to be completely cleaned if one has only cooked an Omelette. Hob slow to heat up, Oven slow to heat up at least 20 minutes. Top oven is so poor I use it only to warm plates.Knobs are slanted so they catch crumbs & splashes & are fiddly to clean.Fan oven not powerful, also takes too long to warm up when this should not be necessary.

Like other reviews that I read before purchase, its annoying that there is no light to let you know you have left a ring on at low, the ceramic top darkens then and you cant see its on. Also the dials have no dark indication strip to point to the level of heat that is on. It would be helpful if they were black or grey, just a line, so you could see at a glance if the ring was on. Also the handle clip to the grill pan is very fiddley, removing it while you are using it is a pest. Why couldnt they make the handle heatproof so you can keep it in place ?

for the same size of cooker I found the bottom oven smaller than my last Belling cooker. Also when I first had an electric hot plate I could put some potatoes on to boil. Ceramic hob scratches very easily. Clock recess around timer knobs is difficult and fiddly to clean. Main oven shelves are tight to slide onto some of the runners. The product is priced very well for it's A rated ability for both the main & top oven. The clock is much easier to view from the bird's-eye position rather than frontal position as you stand at the cooker. The controls are raised from the main hob area, this provides a better ability at preventing cooking spills over the control via the hob use.
-
There is NO indication that the hob is still hot via the need for some form of indicator (red light) The grill pans inner metal griddle is very poorly designed in the fact that it is extremely weak and bendy when cleaning that you think it's about to fall-apart.

The grill pan has a really poor grid, basically in one direction so bacon will only sit on it in one orientation (i.e the bars only go left to right and there's no coreesponding back/front ones to make a square mesh. It was really annoying to see Zannussi go penny pinching on this component. We bought this unit online sight unseen and had I had seen that in a showroom it may have jeopardised the purchase over something so trivial. Luckilly we kept our old grill pan and grid and we use that instead. We've lobbed the one that came with it. Other than that it's a fine machine, would have been 10/10 except for that stupid grid. Bad call Zanussi.

Overall an excellent cooker, good oven capacity, with 2 very efficient ovens (not like some where the top oven is substandard). Nice looking and easy to use.
-
Would be usfull to have some kind of child lock facility on it, and to have warning lights when hob is still hot. The dials for the hob, and clock display are hard to clean, could do with a more streamlined/smoother surface.Grill handle also a little tricky to get to grips with.

Heats up very quickly and cooks evenly.

Not very easy to clean and the glass top became marked within 1-2 uses (and we bought top rate pans so its not them). You dont know if a hob still is hot after you turn it off because no light.

No hob hot warning light. Grill only available at full or 25%. Clock difficult to clean due to clock controls.

Robust build, easy to clean and so far reliable.

The handle to the grill pan was rubbish. It was made of such brittle material that within 5 minutes of our efforts to fit the thing to the pan, it snaped. Try getting a new one.
Apart from this the overall rating would have been 9/10.

It's fan oven is much quieter than my old cooker. The Oven is energy rating A and based on the fact that the kitchen is not noticably warmer when I use the oven, it must use lass electricity.

Very smart looking oven which works like a dream. Super easy to use with programmable timer so you can set your oven to cook for you. With gas, the heat is instantly on which means no waiting and messing about. Everyone who's seen it thinks it looks very posh and well made.
-
A light on the top oven would have made a nice addition but, having said that, you can see perfectly well how something is cooking through the glass - a light would just make it a bit clearer.

the hob and ovens heat up to temperature extremely fast, which saves on electricity. The external fan which blows cool air on the knobs when the grill is running is a great safety measure. Far less chance of burning yourself.
-
It can be quite hard to clean round the knobs and care needs to be taken when cleaning the ceramic hob.

All over performance is excellent. I have just changed reluctantly (at the time) from gas to electric and have really been impressed by the cooker's performance.

Only one niggle is the design of the screen where the timer and clock is. It is nearly impossible to clean. This would be better suited if it was a flush screen with flat buttons.

The rings are all to large for milk pans etc. One smaller ring would be better.
