+ I can throw a wide range of audio/visual devices and sound encodings at it and it can handle them with ease. The sound quality is top notch. There is a lot of satisfation of being able to plug my Media Centre PC to the receiver via HDMI and getting 7.1 surround sound and 1040p picture quality!

- The remote control and menu interface is very complicated to get used to, though it's generally because of all the features available to you. Once you have read the manual a few times, you can set up your preferred default settings for each device and not have to worry about the menu system.

+ Very easy to set up with automatic calibration. Good remote control, easy to use. Many different sound settings.
Awesome sound

- No night setting unlike my previous Yamaha. Only 1 HDMI output, could do with another to supply TV and a Projector. Had to buy a separate HDMI switcher.

+ It look and sounds great. I use it for music with a Mirantz CD6002 and a pair of B&W 686 speakers. The sound is amazing. I also have a Jamo surround sound system. It delivers a great sound. I have also god the IPOD dock. Really slick operation. The Ipod display comes up on the TV screen. Also provides a great sound.

- Not really any I can think of at the moment.

+ I am no expert this is my first venture in the amp market so I did read the manual first very easy to set up
and sounds great

- When i used the yamaha mic to set for auto it sounded worse so went back to manual setting.
The plastic mesh on top of amp is WHITE stands out like a sore thumb

+ Sounds great, looks fantastic and can be configured specifically for each AV / gaming component.

- Not a bad point as such, but certain aspects of detailed configuration could be a little daunting for some.

- Slightly slow video switching

- no on screen volume indication

+ Powerful amp with useful features. Intuitive to use.

- OSD puts up a grey screen ob;iterating the picture, although it still allows the sound to be heard. Remote control appears quite old fashioned.
