+ The convenience to record at the press of a button onto the hard drive, then to keep or discard at my leisure.

- Too complicated, the instruction book weighs nearly as much as the unit!

+ Good value for money,provides versatality for choice of requirements whether you wish to copy programmes to hard disc,DVD or tape. Viewing is easy to control with the handset,the time slip feature is terrific for watching a program that you have paused earlier and is still running.
Overall picture quality and performance is very good.

- I have some DVD-R videos, my previous DVD player still plays them all but this RDX doe's not plays them for some reason. I have to mention that in hte manual it says it can play all DVD-+R.

+ On paper it seemed a world beater, but - see below

- The response to the i-r controller is very very slow, making the unit not easy to use. Worse still, the vhs player has chewed up several of my precious tapes and now won't work at all. I've had to use an old vhs machine to transcribe to dvd, making the purchase nearly pointless.

+ It is easy to understand once it was installed, it needed somebody that had experiance to do that.

+ Well the product is absolutly brilliant to use and really easy for me to record live tv shows when I am not available on hard drive.

- however, when I try to copy VCR to hard drive, the recording stops automatically and I have found out that this will only happen if a copy-protected or NTSC signal is detected so I was wondering if you guys can help me on how to not let that happen please but overall its going good.

- manual Reallllllly.... long to read and understand, will take users a while to get to grips with. Even I'm still learning after 4 months

+ It is very easy to use, being able to pause live television is a big advantage, copying from video tapes to dvd or from the hard drive is very easy and the quality is very good.

- Does not have a digital tuner

+ Has an excellent HDD recorder, good DVD, and reasonable VCR. As an overall package it is great.

- VCR could be better, and it is slow to power up when switched on.

Remote control buttons difficult to read/find - indistinct

+ Three way copying eg hdd - dvd- video

- Cannot see the clock when in record mode

+ Flexibility of being able to use VHS, DVD and Hard Drive. Easy to operate and at the time the best I could find.

- Not set up for digital TV so will be restricted in its capability in due course. Not such a problem for me but it could be for others.

+ Not being technically minded, I have found it easy to use. I haven't had a hard drive before, and I find this extremely useful. At the time of purchase this model was the best value for money, plus a well known make.

- I haven't found any to date.

- Sometimes it doesn't switch itself on when programmes are set on the timer.

- Fiendishly difficult to use - 100 page instruction book, can only record off SKY channel you're watching. Only use it to play DVDs -could do this for one tenth price.

+ Great all in one machine if you're not bothered about it having an analogue tuner (ie you have to hook up a freeview box or skybox to it and can't watch one digital channel while recording another) and although there are a lot of buttons on the remote it doesn't take long to get to grips with the most common functions. It's great to be able to dub things from VHS, edit and delete scenes, and then dub onto DVD (or leave on the hard drive if you wish) - very glad I bought it.

- Um, not much. Picture quality is probably better on other machines but it's good enough for me, especially given that a lot of stuff I'm dubbing from VHS isn't great quality anyway. The DVD player/recorder is also a little on the noisy side, it's more like a PC's DVD drive in that respect.

+ Looks good, does what it says on the tin! Recording quality excellent and play back great.

- Just cannot get the thing to record directly from video to DVD without saving to hard drive first. There is a button on the front telling me it will but no matter how many times I try it just will not do anything! Very frustarte to operated as everything is so slow, ever turning it on take an age.

- the manual makes it horrendously complicated

+ works well as advertised except for below.

- Does not save time and date when powered down & uses too much power when on standby. Low sound output level - TV, AUX, playback all low level compared to all other pieces of TV, video & audio equipment regularly used. Remote control - labelling not clear in low light and labourious to use when re naming / editing. At this time, so close to Digital change-over should have digital receiver. No RF modulator.

+ Excellent value for money with its ability to translate between different formats. Much cheaper than buying a digital unit, and digi-boxes are cheaper to replace!

- Bit cumbersome with the titling of stuff on the HDD.

+ Very easy to use. Does everything it says on the box with the minimum of fuss.

- Overly complicated manual, and labelling on remote control difficult to read in electric light.

- Cant copy Divx or mp3 files. Would've liked to have a USB port with it as well, but you cant have it all.

+ Can play my videos again! Can transfer them to DVD to prolong life. Can record from TV on to hard drive - no need to have tapes or DVDs to hand. Seems (after instruction) relatively easy to operate.

+ Fairly low cost for HDD,VCR & DVD

- Colour of rermote control (black with grey printing) is difficult to read. Picture format (16.9) not compatible with television. No component output. Not generally impressed.
