+ All in one - VHS HDD DVD-R; Very easy to programme & playback HDD; useful preview of recordings; can personalise names of recordings;

- Only that at the start it does take a while for commands to be actioned. Like a slow PC, you have to trust it is booting up. Once up & running it's fine - only a v small quibble.

+ Neat package, that delivers what we wanted. Allows us to record, whilst watching something we have previously recorded, as well as starting to watcgh what we are currently recording.

- The instruction book is sometimes a little vague. We are still learning just what the machine can do after 6 months.

+ I've had it for five months and still can't suss the timer...the instructions are aimed at nuclear physicists, even my granddaughter can't understand it.

- Told that I could record from Freeview, but can only record IF I'm watching the programme.

+ It is just what I needed. With the combination of hard drive, disc and video for recording and play back all in one piece of equipment I have the choice of what to use all at the push of a button and with the added bonus of no complicated wiring to marry up with the TV and the cable box. I am exceedingly pleased with it.

- As far as I am concerned, there are no bad points.

+ It has a wealth of features which are important to me--DivX playback; dubbing tape > HDD and HDD > DVD; playback from various disk formats (I use DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-R and CD-RW) editing; flexible and easy-to-use timer programme

- I was disappointed that it is not possible to dub DivX to HDD without resorting to external cabling and playback/record (my camera produces DivX). Also, when dubbing to DVD at any mode other than 'Fast', the title being dubbed takes precedence over satellite on the SCART bus--I have to unplug the unit until the dubbing is complete if I want to watch anything else. These are minor issues, though, given the price...

+ It's just brilliant! As well as playing/recording to videos and DVD's you can record on to hard drive and then start watching what you are recording while it records the rest. This is ideal if you are not quite ready to sit down and watch something at it's start time. Also you can watch something already recorded on hard drive while recording something else (or watching a DVD while recording on hard drive or vice versa). If you have something on hard drive that you want to transfer onto a DVD, this is easy and many times quicker than real time and you can even edit out advert breaks before hand. HDD to DVD is only one of the dubbing options. Being able to transfer all my old home video to DVD was a real bonus. I could go on............

- Cant think of any.

Poor image quality when video in use. Lines across image.

+ It's great to have a choice of recording on the Hard Drive or DVD. The menu's are brilliant which show the programmes recorded and the fact that you can change the title on a programme so you don't erase something in error.

- Can't find out if I can watch a programme via my Bush Digibox and record a different programme which is also coming through the Digibox. Or if I can only record BBC3 (for example) and watch BBC1 (for example) on Terrestial.

+ Extensive features including the ability to record at very high or low resolution and hence fit 4x the amount of time on any of the recording formats with multiple personal settings to get it to work how you want. Comprehensive manual - some people seem to find this intimidating but we found it very useful and easy to follow, there's no such thing as too much information, just an inability to assimilate it.

- It's huge! Almost unbelievably large in this day and age of miniaturisation, it only just fits the TV cabinet without the door touching a button.
It takes about 30secs to boot up which isn't long but feels slow, especially if you've decided to record something at the last moment.

- however, when I try to copy VCR to hard drive, the recording stops automatically and I have found out that this will only happen if a copy-protected or NTSC signal is detected so I was wondering if you guys can help me on how to not let that happen please but overall its going good.

+ Great all in one machine if you're not bothered about it having an analogue tuner (ie you have to hook up a freeview box or skybox to it and can't watch one digital channel while recording another) and although there are a lot of buttons on the remote it doesn't take long to get to grips with the most common functions. It's great to be able to dub things from VHS, edit and delete scenes, and then dub onto DVD (or leave on the hard drive if you wish) - very glad I bought it.

- Um, not much. Picture quality is probably better on other machines but it's good enough for me, especially given that a lot of stuff I'm dubbing from VHS isn't great quality anyway. The DVD player/recorder is also a little on the noisy side, it's more like a PC's DVD drive in that respect.
