- takes to long to start up

+ bought for ower nine year old daughter and its perfect for her and the fact that it has windows rather than other programs or limited versions of windows its an ideal lap top for those on a budjet .

+ Everything seems to be working without any problems so far. The screen isn't too glossy, though matte would be preferable. The track-pad and buttons are far better than on a new Dell laptop that I bought at about the same time and the build is a good bit sturdier. On the whole it's a better piece of work than the Dell even if its specs are slightly inferior—not that you'd notice the difference in casual use.

- Like the Dell, this machine comes with an operating system preinstalled: no ifs or buts here—you put up with MS Windows whether you want it or not. I find this inexcusable, but there is no alternative at the moment. I prefer to use Linux for almost everything I do and the Toshiba hardware, incidentally, works fine with this OS, up to and including wireless connections. I do wish that computers could be had with no OS installed. More importantly, if Windows is preinstalled, it should be mandatory to supply a disc for reinstalling it should something go amiss.

+ This laptop is powerful and well designed having 3G of RAM already installed, and a quick CPU. Buying a reconditioned unit made the price very resonable and the condition really was "as new" - just lacking its original packaging. I would certainly look to buying a reconditioned unit again.

- Battery life ain't great, it's the average for laptops now-a-days but compared to my older one it's worse.
The screen is bright, but it could still do with being a bit brighter.
Hard drive isn't that big, but I have an external so it's not an issue.

Have only used it plugged into mains so can't give accurate comment on battery life.

- Very slow in its initial startup. even after stopping unnecessary programs at initial startup. Poor battery life but more or less same with other laptops.

+ Nice design, looks well. to me it's a new machine as it is perfect in condition! It does what it I wish it to do, but slowly.

- battery could be better as it should last longer! Vista on this machine really damages its preformance and runs very slow, even with the 3GB memory. My three year old Emachine on XP out-preforms the Tosh.

+ good graphics and long "battery life". Overall I would recommend it for general home use.

- DVD player is working quite loud and at the same time speakers are quiet which make it difficult to watch movies.

+ It is up and running quicker than my Desktop PC which runs on Windows XP.
After hearing nothing good about Vista I am really pleased with it and cannot understand why people complain about it, I have no problems and much prefer it to XP.
I was very pleased and pleasantly surprised with the 'as new' condition of the machine when it arrived and the fact that there was no long, drawn out procedure to load everything, plug it in, switch on and it did everything automatically with minimum input required from me.

- No real bad points, just needs the battery upgraded to give longer use on a charge.

- The pre-installed anti-virus and microsoft office software constantly trying to get you to pay and register for their products really irritates - I uninstalled them both within a week.
Apart from that, I'm really pleased with the computer itself and recommended to a friend who bought one too and is equally pleased.

- Spent two hours trying to set up wi-fi only to discover after speaking to help team I had to download the wireless driver which I thought would have already been done. Spoke to further two tech guys who informed me this model did not have a button/switch to turn on Wi-Fi, but after another hour discovered it actually did have the button on the front of laptop!!

+ Bought to replace an out-of-date Toshiba, and this is an excellent replacement. Looks and behaves like a new one - delighted with it.

- Can't comment on battery life as I use mine as a desktop on mains for home business and personal use. Mixed feelings about Vista. Some excellent improvements, but some things made much more complicated (unless I've just not worked out a short-cut).

+ I was impressed by the sound and the laptop works well for playing games. It's a good, cheap laptop.

- I often loose use of the "fn" button but it comes back after a restart which can be annoying. The lid is sometimes annoying to open.

+ Really pleased overall. So much faster than my old laptop. I am no expert, but I have been pleasantly surprised with the whole package. Really swanky looking and quick. Bargain at the price as well. Very easy to set up.

- The battery life isn't brilliant - it lasts about 90 mins without charging. Also strangely the in built mouse is really loud - a minor irritation really.
Still worth the cash though.
