Nice looking.

Very bad at picking up Freeview stations unless aerial signal perfect. Bought a 15" Sony at same time which picked up all stations whereas the Toshiba struggled with many on the same aerial outlet.
Buy a Sony!

For the price Toshiba LCD's are all excellent value. It's a neat little set that generally has good connectivity for other gear, is easy to use and offers reasonable picture / sound quality.
-
Only has 1 scart socket. Range of other input sockets v good and it's a shame there aren't 2 scarts. We have to use a muli-scart adapter - not a big issue though! We also have a 32" Toshiba LCD and the picture isn't as good as that - but it's cheaper.

Attractive design, good features (built in freeview) and nothing as good value at the time.
-
Poor digital tuner. Whilst my Panasonic with built in Freeview had no signal problems and could pick up every channel, this one could only pick up the BBC channels (plugged into the same aerial socket). Buying a new TV aerial helped but I still couldn't get the ITV or CH4 so had to buy a booster device. There is also a dead pixel (permanently lit cyan) which is annoying.

Easy to set up. Good picture quality and (more importantly for us) very good sound quality. Some TV's of this size have a "tinny" sound - but this one doesn't. Unobtrusive design and easy to operate - even for a 70+ year old!

We bought 2 TV's for our boys, they both were set up in minutes and the reception and picture quality is very good. One of the TV's is set up with the computer and again is easy to switch over with good picture quality.
-
The only problem is no sound comes from TV when connected to the computer but speakers are used instead(I'm sure it is how I have connected it)

Picture quality, lots of info in the EPG. Looks good. Quality remote. Sound is good once you turn off "effect".
-
On-screen programme info display layout is a bit confusingly. When you press a button to take it out of standby, there is a long delay before the picture and sound come on. Sound is awful until you turn off "effect".

It was really easy to set up and the digital tv is great. The HD is also a great bonus, and as a computer monitor it is brilliant.

The remote is abit of a pain, very specific with the sensor and has to be pointed at specific heights and angles to work. Otherwise ok.

Looks good. Great picture for the screen size. Wide contrast function. Lots of useful functions. Ability to switch the screen off and still get sound (great for the radio stations, especially in bed at night). Plenty of useful input formats. Very portable.
-
Menu systems sometimes a little counter-intuitive. The banner that covers the top of the screen after selecting a channel is a little irritating (probably best at the bottom, or having the option to remove entirely, or even have it semi-transparent). Badly designed remote control.

|
‘HD Ready’ is a Europe-wide standard designed to made HD technology less confusing. HD Ready TVs must have
• Minimum vertical resolution of 750 pixels (in widescreen format)
• Ability to display 720p and 1080i formats
• An HDMI or Digital Video Interface (DVI interface)
Full HD is a higher standard. Full HD TVs have screen resolutions of 1080p and can output at least 24 frames per second.
Full HD is becoming common, but you won’t see Full HD on normal TV channels for a long time, so it remains optional for many people.

|

|

Contrast Ratio (X:1)

|
800
|
|
This figure is designed to tell you how much difference there is between dark and light colours on the TV. It is quoted as a ratio, between the brightest white and the darkest black. 500:1 means the brightest white is 500 times more bright than the darkest black. Plasma screens have historically boasted better contrast ratios than LCD screens.
|
