+ The TOM TOM one is great. Big enough to see but small enough to fit in your pocket. The carry case, provided free, was a welcome bonus. The TOM TOM is very easy to use and takes seconds to master.

+ Excellent, clear instructions and easy to set up. Information on the screen ie distance to destination, compass location, time to location etc. all very useful.

- It has often not booted up and I have frequently had to reset it - for some strange reason. This is not difficult to do, just frustrating when I'm in a hurry. The windscreen attachment demands quite a bit of strength to secure it but at least I know it won't fall off mid-journey!

- house numbers - my own road, Northorpe Lane, PE100HG, inaccurate and number (75) not locatable and daughter's London house number not on database!
Touching letters a little 'fiddly'; updating (as new roads come along) not catered for; extra maps (e.g France) rather expensive

+ I now arrive at appointments on time, should have got one ages ago. I still make mistakes when I don't listen but it quickly readjusts and gets me back to where I need to be.

+ it takes the worry out of travelling to an unknown place on your own. you don't need to perform olympian feats by remembering the route, and your not tempted to keep one eye on your mapbook as you attempt to negotiate busy unknown roads.

- clock failiure whenever device switched off -- occurred on two successive purchases of tomtom one -- eventually found method on internet of doing a hard reset which overcame problem.

- not enough "add ons" suplieed with the basic device. when using shortest route it may even take you through pub car parks to save 5 yards

+ For a lady driving on her own this is a must purchase.

+ No more town centre traffic jams. Tom Tom provides shortest routes. Provides distance and arrival time. No more arguments loads less stress.

- Does not have a battery charge indicator. Need to actually plan a route to check battery level. Care of battery instructions not provided with instrument. Some inaccuracies in instructions. TomTom needs to develop a system to acknowledge reported fault in directions and correct them asap.

+ Small and user friendly. Can rely on directions given 99% of the time.

- On rare occasions it has told me to go the wrong way on a one way street, but in saying that I have used other brands of sat navs and they have also had the same problem on occasion. More points of interest would be nice, e.g hotels and restaurants especially in more rural areas.

+ Clarity - has given me really good directions. Like the step by step guide you can run in advance as I use it in my horsebox and helps to see what sort of roads are in the route and how I should amend the estimated time accordingly.

- Battery drains even when not in use. Volume settings can't easily be adjusted when in use, unless I just haven't found out how to do it yet! I seem to have to go through the whole menu which is difficult when driving.

- Not always clear where to turn or which junction to take.

+ Very easy to use and accurate does only struggle when on new road networks but all you need is a bit of common sense and to read the signs and it will drop you at the door. Great product wouldn't be without it.
