+ Very easy to use and fits in your pocket so you can take it out of the car when you park. Invaluable when on a driving holiday in Europe.

- It is amazing how quickly the maps become out of date and panic sets in when a new roundabout appears in front of you. Pity there is not a subscription service to update these little sections of maps.

+ Very simple to use
Quick and simple set-up- step by step instructions on-screen
GREAT FOR AVOIDING ARGUMENTS IN THE CAR ABOUT WHICH WAY THE MAP SAYS TO GO!!!!
Compact design- no fiddly buttons, all on-screen
Lots of features but easy to use- easy to follow (jargon-free) menus
Good clear maps, 2D and 3D- widescreen version better than standard screen for this
This version got me out of a small French town at night and back onto the main routes with no problems at all.
Also navigated Paris in rush-hour and gave alternative routes when traffic was bad.
3D map especially useful to see what lay ahead in slow-moving traffic.
Made joining/ leaving motorways at home and abroad.
Easy and safe- good advance warning of when to take a slip road.
Can also be set to warn audibly of speed cameras and when your car reaches the current limit automatically.
I would've struggled to use a map successfully in some situations which TomTom did for me instead!

- Can't think of any, except it got lost once (but everyone's allowed the odd mistake aren't they?)

+ Easy to use interface, lots of information available, driving times very accurate. Good value for money.

- Keeps falling off the windscreen! In some confusing road situations (one-ways, city centres (e.g Durham) ) it says you have reached the destination when you haven't and then seems to give up (bit like having a human navigator). But, to be fair, we have forgotten to take advantage of the updates which might remedy the latter issue.

+ Can't think of much other than it looks ok.

- What is really really bad is that we were in central london and had to stop at the lights and did so under a bridge, we lost signal and had no clue where we were going, then we got it back after about 4 mins, then lost it twice more - hopeless, we were very late (45 mins) because of this. It also kept popping off the window onto the passengers lap - no good if you are on your own. Took a long route, not much good to say about it, not quickest motorway.

- It seems too heavy for the windscreen mount,Mine will not stay in place. I have only tested it locally but it does tend to send me the longest way round. More importantly at multi lane roundabouts and junctions it tells you the right numbered exit but exits are signed by destinations and/or road number,So it is difficult to tell which lane to be in on approach. But I must admit local authorities do keep changing lane priorities.I do think direction should be given in road numbers. Road numbers never change but signed place names do.

+ TomTom has proved invaluable to us while touring remote parts of Italy and France recently. Generally the instructions are clear and the maps very helpful. It has been a source of fun in planning alternative routes and seeing new ways to get to a destination.

- My main moan: I find it impossible to find a named or described building rather than a house number, for instance "Fenton Manor", especially when I do not know the street it is in. Similarly a noted feature of a town, such as La Rochefoucault Chateau -- large and evident, and a point of interest, but no listing of chateaus or castles. How do I find the visitors information centre in a town -- that is not found in POI, either. Minor niggles: The menus are somewhat obscure when I am roaming the features and I know that there is information I could call up, but do not know how. Sometimes I find a new screen that I have never seen before has popped up, and I wonder how i got there. I can never find how to get there again to explore that feature. There have been a number of instances en route when the TomTom has suddenly decided that we are no longer on the Motorway, but have leapt 300 metres to one side into the middle of a field and need to be reconnected to the M'way. Once it tried to make me turn sharp right onto a non-existent road which would have plunged me into a sheer drop down the mountain side. And it regularly gets the direction of one-way streets wrong. The progress on the display map lags slightly behind our actual progress, which has led to either missing a turn, or incorrect anticipation of a turn. Common sense and experience should deal with these things.

+ Quick, easy, clear, very simple! Overall good value after using a PDA with TomTom 5, this is by far quicker and easier to use.

- It's not really slim enough to go in a pocket so you either have to carry it, or hide it in the car

+ It's got lots of great features and menu options. The design looks good.
