+ TomTom map is the most up-to-date. Map guarantee is a big bonus. IQ route makes the estimate arrival time senisble around London. With the HD traffic, it is the best GPS I can get.

- POI is not as organised as my older GPS. HD traffic and live service is only free for 3 months.

up to date traffic info

- not fully voice activated - still need to press screen for specific phone contacts, for example. Makes it dangerous to alter whilst driving

- The allowed road speed database is woefully out of date, and it takes you some very strange routes on occasions because in the past there were road works (which have not existed for at least two years)

- Google search yields places to visit but the TomTom will fail to create a route to the place if the post code does not happen to sit on at least a B road!

+ How does the live traffic updates work when the phone is not connected. Very accurate at telling you where the delays are. The other day it found a route around a big delay on the M6 and I only lost 5 mins on a 250 mile journey.

- TomTom used to supply all the bits in the box i.e.case remote etc now its all an extra. I do think for the cost all the bits should be in the box

+ Very easy to setup and use. Big advantage with the use of Google to find points of interest. Latest traffic reports, save me being held up in 1 hour traffic jam.

- The speaker is a bit tinny sound! But apart from that I can't think of any bad points.

+ In terms of in-car SatNav, it is without doubt, the leader of the pack.

- I just wish TomTom could get their act together and get some decent programmers to write code that WORKS 100% ALL THE TIME!! Loads of good features but its accompanied by loads of bugs in things like Bluetooth handling, sound drivers etc etc... The list goes on BUT at least its loads better than some cheaper SatNavs I've tried...

+ Compact easy to use. Gets you to where you want to be. Nice extras like MP3.

- While navigating & paly music via the radio, if you dial or accept a call hands free and loose the signal the unit locks up. So now I will not use the MP3 playing. All these type of devices suffer from wrong orientation, they should be rotated 90 degress (like a PDA) as we drive forward not sidewas. Live services to expensive for the casual user.

+ This really is a great piece of kit. Apart from it's obvious use as a satellite navigation device, it's an mp3 player, a bluetooth device for your phone, a photo viewer and it takes you to the nearest chippy if you're a bit peckish. You can talk to it to tell it where you want to go and for the most part you don't need to speak the queen's perfect english for it to understand you! Highly recommended.

- It doesn't make me a cuppa :-(

+ This TomTom is very much better than my original which was a TomTom GO 700 which I still use in another vehicle but prefer the Go 940 Live.

- The speed camera sounds are to quiet and the graphics to small.
I would prefer the compass bearings to be in the compass similar to the 700 rather than in the information bar

+ has pc interface that is fairly easy to use, i just love the automatic updates.
as for the on the road navigation it is the best i have ever used, take a wrong turning due to road works etc and a new route is automatically calculated. i am sure i have saved petrol money by driving the shorter distances than i could have planned doing it the old fashioned way. the commands are clear and the instructions on screen are great. especially like the handsfree option for my bluetooth mobile phone.

- heavy subscription charges if you want your maps and safety (revenue collecting) cameras updated.
