Bracket for fixing on to interior of car - ideally would prefer something that didn't entail sticking onto window - (would prefer something more robust design that you could put on the dashboard away from potential thieves.

I have used it a few times since purchasing and the sound has just disappeared whilst driiving but the thing that I find most frustrating is the very bad instruction booklet given with the product. Having never used a satnav before I found the instruction leaflet absolutely useless and had to rely on working it out for myself by trial and error. Friends who have purchased a Garmin satnav have told me I should have purchased one of those and not the TomTom and I am beginning to agree with them!

Small, compact and the integral windscreen holder makes both easy to carry around. Make sure you press the holder to the screen firmly then twist to lock and it stays in place well. The Tom Tom clips off easily from the holder if required. Make sure to update the software and you can download extras (ie Dodge Viper as your car icon) from the tom tom download site.

This replaced an old Tom Tom and the old charging cable had a round plug that made it easier to insert into the device than this. Ths connector plug here is a small usb style connector and can be fiddly to connect.

Lots of extras not included on our previous TomTom, e.g. Where am I? Where's the nearest chemist? etc. The lady's voice is clearer than the one on our previous TomTom. Very useful to have the warning beeps for speed cameras; dollar signs to represent banks are helpful too. A clever gimmick to be able to choose the colour of the car on the map! (the previous TomTom just had an arrow).
-
On a recent holiday we were twice wrongly directed - once the road had recently been changed into a cul-de-sac, and the other time we were directed to turn left into a road which was only for buses and taxis. At the end of our holiday the TomTom froze - unfortunately we'd left the instructions at home; on returning home we found we had to reset it by pressing and holding down the start button (which immediately put it right).

It was my first time driving on motorways so for me to get from a to b approx 80 miles was an achievement. Sat nav took me to the door, couldn't have managed without it. Gave sufficient notice of when to exit the motorways and when to bear left and bear right. I did take a wrong turn, my fault and the sat nav got me back on the right road.
