Very comprehensive user interface that is a delight to use. Ability to add POI (Points of Interest) that are easily downloadable (free) from the internet. Firmware and Operating System can be easily updated from TomTom's website. Interfaces well to the car & phone. Complete maps of Europe available in the 700 version. Bluetooth works well too.
-
Relies on TeleAtlases maps which can be inaccurate and they are slow to update them. (not really TomTom's fault actually) TomTom's online services are expensive when you can actually get some for free (SpeedCamera database is one example). Got to the PocketGPS site instead. Clock doesn't update automatically (from the satellite) but I guess this may change in a future OS update.

Just come back from touring Spain and France. TomTom was amazing, we found places on route that would have been impossible with a map.

Just one critism, TomTom blacked out for no reason and there was no info in the guide book as what to do, after a while we found that there was a reset button, no mention of this in the user guide!!

Website confusing and emails not responded to. In particular I cannot find out if there is a new GB map available and cannot therefore cash in my free update voucher. A provision to exclude narrow or steep roads from routing would be inaluable as I tow a caravan.

Not easy to slightly amend route e.g. when one wants to go on M6 Toll or via Eurotunnel. In latter case had to find postcode for terminal. The plug-in to the cigarette lighter is bulky and gets in the way and it would be better to have a curly-type power cable. Program does make some mistakes (like trying to make us go the wrong way down a one-way street in Brussels), but this is the exception.

-
Like all SatNavs this unit is no substitute for a good map and a navigator. It does not take you the fastest or even the best way most of the time buy it does get you there !! On occations it has placed me on the wrong side of a duel carriageway which indicates that the road is placed wrongly on its map. The bag supplied is pretty useless - it will not protect the unit from anything other than dust. A much stronger, harder case is required as you can not leave this on show in the car or you will have your side-window smashed!
