Colin, Larkhall
easy to use and accurate.

Gary, Uckfield
Easy to use even in strong sunlight. Clear and concise verbal instructions. Maps well designed with good quickly read instructions.
Some map details out of date by many years. Near to where I live a one way system at Haywards Heath, West Sussex, on a main road not shown - it has been there for over thirty years. No through road in Lindfield shown with clear access, the road restriction has been in existance for over 10 years. Lewes Railway Station, Sussex, not shown despite having been there for over 150 years. If these map discrepancies are within a few miles of my home how many others are there?

The Tomtom software is great. POI management is simple. Very reliable
Battery life can be poor, even loses charge when not in use. Startup time a bit slow Time to get a GPS signal can be a problem (E.g. sometimes this is a few minutes or so)

Plenty of menu options eg you can pre plan your route at home, different display formats, clear bright screen.Feels well made and durable, and worked immediately out of the box with no hassle (just follow the instructions)
Windscreen suction pad is a bit flimsy ,so i ordered an optional fitting kit which is excellent

Good size screen.
Latest update of UK map is already years out of date, no free trial of extras such as Traffic, Windscreen bracket is flimsy & occasionally falls off.

My TomTom has no really bad points as far as I am concerned. Both me and my husband love him. We have used him several times and he has always found where we are going. He actually took us to a place that was virtually impossible to find without him. The people we were visiting were astonished when we said 'Thomas' had brought us. He has sometimes tried to send us wrong but if you use your wits a little he is easy to outsmart. Hopefully he is taking us to a cottage in Devon on Christams Eve and I have every faith in him. A couple of his features we particularly like is his speed camera warning and the ability to choose between motorways and minor road preferences
As said prior he doesn't has any 'bad points' just a couple of niggles
02 Nov 2008
Joe, Scarborough
Good size for vision and larger keyboard for bigger fingers!. Sat navs always find the shortest route, so best to check suitability first against a road atlas if possible. Quick to re-route if you miss a turn, or get diverted. Very easy to get used to and to live with.

This is so easy to use and the wide screen (XL) is so much better than the smaller version. You get to see a lot more on screen which makes it easier when you are travelling!
Tom Tom cases good, although very over-priced!
28 May 2008
Carol, Manchester
Accuracy to find places is spot on easy to install.
Could do with more voice options. Speed camera alerts need to be altered as they don't seem to alert to cameras at all.

Very simple to use, it recalculates the route if you stray off its proposed route very quickly so even if you are forced by a detour out of your way you will still get where you are going. The map share is a fantastic feature, allowing the community to suggest corrections, then TOM TOM verifying them and making them available to download into your TOM TOM device.

Chris, Sevenoaks
Good product. Easy to use but not so easy to set up on PC using Vista! But once you are there away you go
The usual Vista issues and conflicts, not the TomTom's fault, but annoying all the same.

Display screen good size. Clear to follow directions.
Not all addresses are listed even when long existing address. Has a tendancy to lose picture display and revert back to home screen although verbal directions still forthcoming.

A good all round product that was excellent value for money. It does what it says on the tin!
Accessories can be a bit expensive as can additional maps etc.

Easy to use, once you are used to the menu screens. The tom tom has not let us down on any journey, for all our destinations we use the post code facility.
No bad points.

Size of Screen. Clear Display.
Have found that it doesn't recognise the Post Code of the location you want to get to so you end up with a best guess!

17 Mar 2008
Sheila, St Neots Cambs, “Femail 64 years young”
easy to use as I am use to systems on a computor. Clear easy to see screen, and program
If you have not use any 'program'system before,it would have helped in the instrution book,if it told you (in pics),what was on screen1, 2, 3,and what it showed behind each symbol, so you could see where to go for eg:- deleting programed jurneys, which screen for the shortess route , etc. Believe it or not there are still people who don't know, you can go from one folder to sub folders.

George, London, “One heavy user.”
In an imperfect world this thing is a valuable help. There is no perfect sat nav on this planet but this one is excellent.
The map has dark spots that they are not aware of but still the thing functions well in general.

Natasha, London, “Professional Single Working Mother”
Very easy and straight forward to use. Particularly swapping easily from day to night colours (some other products are very complicated!) Colourful but clear.
A few mistakes in the road layout as I'm driving and could be a little more streamlined.
14 Mar 2008
Mike, Weymouth, “50yr old electrical engineer”
Good design, lightweight. Menu system has just about thought of all the options you need. Device got me to a remote location in Sussex to within 50 yds. I reckon it's the best on the market overall.
Accompanying software can be a little unnerving - the 2nd time I connected it to my laptop it had difficulty reading it. Also wasn't sure it had actaully downloaded the safety camera info after I've paid for it (but it had).
