Tom Tom Go XL v3 GB

+ Clear pictures and precise audio commands. Names of roads as you drive past is always useful.

- Find the USB cable a little tricky to insert sometimes.

+ As with other reviews, really easy to use.
Great for finding points of interest without having to type in postcodes etc.

- I think its odd that sometimes the suggested return journey route is different to the original journey.
Choosing the so called quickest routes can be frustrating as it sometimes picks the single track (toll) roads which aren'ts as fast as the software thinks (and uncomfortable to drive on).

+ Good for showing the road ahead. Useful advance warning of lane change and junctions

- Some parts of route in Europe not up to date

+ Very workable size screen and easy to use and set up.

- The wind screen mounting bracket, does not always stay in place. I have discovered though that if you wipe the area for the bracket is to adeher to with Metholated Spirit it seems to fix the problem

+ easy to use, accurate, showed up well in sunny conditions clear loud vocal instruction. I would have given it a whole hearted recommendation other than one feature.

- In the dark in rain and an unknown town I ended up in Rouen France completely reliant on Tom Tom which proceeded to diect me and my caravan into a series of underpasses the fourth of which was too low for the caravan.
and wrecked the roof. There is a big market for this system if it could be made caravan friendly and not direct caravans and commercial users down narrow lanes

- A bit of a pain to set up as it's not as straight forward as you'd think but once it's done it's brilliant

+ it is accurate, great value for money and it's just the right size

- not loud enough for usage in a transit van

- Traffic Cams usless. Even when updated cameras that had been there for years didnt flash up.
Also make it very hard to load the free map update (latest map guarante). There is no information with the item on how to do this and try to push people in to paying for them. Look on the Tom Tom website for the full details. The free map update is hidden someware in TOM TOM home. Also when doing this be prepaired for a long night. i have a good moden computer with a high speed broadband and it took 4hr 30min to put the new map on. 30min to download and 4hrs to put onto the Sat Nav
