+ It records lots of tv shows, i.e. you can watch what you want when you want

- Its un reliable, problem with remote control to unit, remote needs dis charging as it won't work till this is done.
Remote's buttons far too small for fingers especially for video playback
Top up tv package was very limited, especially film channel with it's 1930's films, ha ha. Not value for money
It doe's not compare with slickness of use with Sky tv.

+ First week this was really good - fairly easy to set up etc.

- After the first week it said the aerial wasn't working so we lost our picture. However it worked fine when attached to another TV. We rebooted the settop box and bought an amplifier for the aerial and it worked for another week - depsite it still saying the serial wasn't working.
Over the last 2 weeks (we've only had it a month) the box has frozen on the librbary page so we are unable to watch anythign that we have recorded. This happens every time we go into the library. I'm taking it back today.

+ A lot more reliable than a BT vision box. With or without any special viewing packages.
Even without subscribing to top-up TV, this is a superb piece of kit.

+ After initial teething problems reasonably easy to set up if you have a teenager to help!

- It appears to have a mind of it's own when setting up timed recordings and has not recorded on several occasions and recorded the most outrageous items at unrequired times eg. recorded 39 mins of a film and
an unsolicited " University Challenge" on the same night! Scary!

+ It's affordable and does exactly what it claims to do.

- Cannot record a whole week's worth of the same programme or a whole series.

+ Once installed, quite simple for my elderly mother to operate. The record, rewind and pause options make tv viewing very simple.

- Installation quite an involved process.
Top up TV option turned out not to be what we'd thought. Bit of a con.

- Most of the time.... It turns itself off for no reason, at times it won't recognise the remote and recording is mostly hit but sometimes miss

- most times cannot access channels, on one minute off the next. misses taping all the time. probably tapes 1 out of 5 times. frustrating when it's called a digital "RECORDER". also makes a noise which i knew about.

+ Very easy to set up and use

- sometimes it doesn't record something but not very often

- From the beginning it was user hostile. It reacted very slowly to inputs and continually froze thereby needing rebooting.
The final straw was when it would not hold the correct picture format, preferring instead to show everyone as 2.5 m tall, weighing about 40kg and having pointed heads.

- Information on screen intrudes into the picture sometimes programme fault , sometimes system fault.

- Brought my first box back after a week as it would not record my programmes some of the time and when it did the playback was choppy at best.
Exchanged it for another one and that did exactly the same thing after a couple of weeks.

- Having to ring Top up Tv to register the set, no information was given and you still had to do even though i didn't want it

+ Easy to use and I liked the features.

- The Digital Recorder has a built in fan - which is constantly on - this is ok when you are watching the TV cos but you would not expect this noise when on standby - I find it very annoying. When I called up to check it wasn't a fault - I was told all Recorder have built in fans so it is just something you have to put up with - I couldn't live with it myself.

- Recorded wrong programs. Blocking,sound hic-ups Other people I spoke to also had same problems. Two other people were returning said product same time as me.

- Sound sometime breaks up. Not sure if this is the machines fault.

+ Excellent overall - picture quality / ease of use / storage capacity.
I personally was wary of the word 'reconditioned'. Assumed I may be purchasing someone elses trouble.
But the machine arrived in 100% perfect order and you would struggle to see where / how this has been used before.
