it makes instant hot water so no waiting for the kettle to boil. Great.
-
It's noisy, doesn't hold much water but they are small points. Worst bit is that the water doesn't come out in a stream - it spits out randomly and unpredictably - the nozzle is poorly designed and the flow isn't strong enough. Has made a bit of a mess up our tea point wall and regularly burns your fingers!

You get a cup of tea straight away!
-
The water is not hot enough, you have to drink your tea pretty much straight away, its hard to draw flavour from a tea bag because of the lack of heat. The plastic water container has broken already and has a very flimsy handle, it also doesnt really hold very much water. It's very noisy and vibrates along the kitchen surface. If you have lots of money then I would buy this and a kettle, it definately isn't a kettle replacement.

The only motivation to buy this is being eco-friendly, as it is not cheap, and does not really do much more than a kettle, other than save the planet!
It's not THAT quick (ie INSTANT), as the water comes out at a bit of a dribble, but you can leave it for the small time it does take, and come back to a hot cup of tea.
It is also quite noisy in operation (sounds like an expensive espresso machine), and vibrates a bit (I guess that is the pump working).

Excellent,Especially first thing in the morning , or returning from holiday to have hot water literally on tap! This is a world shaking product that also promises energy savings too
-
Bear in mind that product delivers very hot but not boiling water, The pump makes a noise that you soon get used to , if you filter your water can be used without the pricey filters included, descaling is a bit of a faf. Despite what the instructions claim. (they recommend white vinegar), I have obtained excellent results with a calgon tab! I rinse out twice instead of the once and it lasts for 6 weeks or therabouts A light comes on in the red button to alert you that descaling is neccesary and if the procedure is not done correctly will stay on! The claimed auto run has eluded me, I find pressing the black followed by the red (still pressing the black i.e both depressed) will do a successful descale but if you let go the claimed auto run stops! This is the only minor bug and after one or two fumbles, you soon learn the knack which is still easier than descaling an ordinary kettle

A bit noisy. This was never mentioned in the reviews that I read about it. Also, some people may not think that the water is hot enough to make a 'proper' cup of tea. The water never reaches boiling temperature, and is therefore unsuitable for making up bottles of baby milk etc.

Excellent concept, instant cups of coffee or chocolate - even tea if you don't need boiling water. Can even fill pans.
-
The instructions say you need to clean this with 2 litres of white vinegar every 2 months - not very eco!
The spout is high enough to fill pans but splatters hot water around when you fill a cup (we had to make a stand for cups - one should be built in)
It's very noisy and shakes so much that it can vibrate backwards (especially when nearly empty) pouring hot water all over the counter.

We use it in a small office with no water supply! This gives us beverages we can drink in a short time frame....without that 10 minute hiatus while you fill the kettle (2 flights of stairs ) and wait for it to boil only to have a drink which needs to cool down. Haven't had much use for cold water yet but next summer....(We missed it this year as it was in April!)
-
Expensive cartridges which did not come with the product(WHY NOT?) despite its high price tag (compared with a kettle) and proved too hard to obtain although I see they are now available from Lakeland which is good. I did not recognise any of the internet suppliers at the time of purchase. Anyway as this is a communal machine (see above) we top up with bottled water (Take it in turns to provide) and do without the filter, Not sure how cost effective it is but as we have no water supply it works well for us. Initial set up cost was high but every drinkable cup pa makes it worth its weight in my opinion and I was the office fairy godmother!

The only downside I can see is that you need to buy filter refils although to be honest, I'm quite happy with my tap water so probably wont bother as the things works as well without the filter as far as I can tell.

If making a number of cups can be quite slow. Also, the water isn't as hot as from a boiled kettle so if you like your tea really hot it might be a dissapointment. Instant hot water for drinks; kettle now out of use and in cupboard.
Filtered cold water also on tap.
Especially good for hot drink-making "directly within the cup/mug" - ideal for coffee, chocolate, Horlicks etc.
Tea can still be made in the pot with Quick-cup, and there is a clear saving in Power by boiling only the exact quantity of water needed each time.
-
For making tea the water is not quite at boiling point as from a kettle. It is hot enough to give a good tasting brew but the tea cools a little more quickly than we might wish.
However we still feel that the advantages are so great that we no longer boil a kettle.
Having demonstrated it to our daughter she was happy to ask us for "Quick-cup" as a Christmas present and is delighted with it.

Very quick easy to use get hot water instantly. Suitible for any sized cup as you can stop the water at anytime and add extra when needed if you have a bigger cup using the same button.
-
The filtered water would be better if it came out chilled as it comes out room temperature. When you do stop the water mid way through it does have a tendancy to drip for a bit.

I ordered 2 and I find it excellent for one or two people I have not used a kettle since I purchased it. The 2nd one was for my Son & Daughter in law they think it's great.
-
Filters are expensive and hard to purchase companies sell the Quickcup but not the replacement cartridges. Initial price would put people off purchasing as kettles are much cheaper.

quick hot water
energy efficiency
-
water not hot enough to dissove all hot drinks properly
if you want hot water for other purpose ie rinsing rice or for mopping the floor you still need a kettle as impossible to use for this purpose
if you use all the water in one go you have to wait 10 mins or so before you use again

Great idea in principle. Should economise on electricity. Much faster than a kettle
-
Rather slower (while you are stood there waiting) than expected in delivering the hot water. Water is hot rather than boiling. The need to change the filter every few weeks makes this a much more expensive option than I had intended.

Wonderful idea.

It doesn't work for long. I am awaiting my third replacement.
The previous ones only boiled about a dozen cups before packing up completely.

good for a couple of cups of tea or coffee.
quick and simple to use
-
It does not replace the kettle. Expensive to buy the product and the filters. Filters are not easy to buy in shops,as most do not sell the filters, but do sell the quick cup. Had it about a month and it has stopped boiling water. Changed filter, but still no hot water. Try to buy white vinegar to clean it out? This product is a bit of a gimmick. It may have to be returned.

Quick. Heats just one cup.
-
Heats, not boils - therefore flavour of favourite drinks slightly altered. Noisy and drippy. Useless to pre-boil water water for cooking. Stopped functioning completely after two days.
