It has a beautiful, deep and rich sound to it and is has a particularly heavy bass on relative settings. So if you like the thud of bass, these speakers will please you. The surround sound on the DVD is great, it rumbles the whole house, even on a low setting. Lovely stereo and good looking. I am quite please with it.
-
The disc changer is slow though. It can take quite few seconds for it to change from one tray to another, particularly if you want to open a tray that wasn't previously in use. However, playing music at say -40 db is not ample for putting on a DVD. The volume needs to be turned up for films, -20 upwards. So you need to remember to turn the volume back down before going back to music, otherwise you blast your ears off. I have yet to work out completely how to use the remote. The things you would normally do, such as changing disc etc., don't appear to be obvious on the remote. I think some functions will require relearning by reading the manual!

Fantastic sound quality. Churns out bass with little or no distortion. Very loud. Easy to operate once you get to grips with the controls. Looks great. Virtual surround sound is great.
-
No CD text on unit screen. No scrolling radio text. The remote control is rather complex.

One of the best hi-fi's around - still standing the test of time. I purchased one 8 years ago and have just purchased this one for my son and little has changed with the system, which just goes to prove that Technics are one of the leaders in technology.

Quite a powerful machine at a budget price. There are not too many midi systems left on the market but this is the best one
-
Not as powerful as my old awai system and the speakers could be uprated. Sounds a little tinny and you have to push the bass up.

The sound quality is awesome, the look is sleek and most types of disk are accepted.

I wish I could change one of the other dvds without stopping the disc that's playing and that the remote control had a scroll function for preset radio stations, without having to tap out the numeber assigned to each station.
