Tamron 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC Lens for Canon EF-S

+ 18-270 covers the focal length for most areas of general photography

- A little still in the mid range of zooming

+ The image stabilizer and massive rang of focal lenths

- The movement of the Zoom. It lengthens ok with the it sticking as mentioned in the reviews, and I find that reversing the zoom effect is imposible without lowering the lens and altering my grip to the top of the lens and zooming in.

+ nice and compact,fairly lightweight,autofocus seemed to work okay,sometimes tried out manual focus and it seemed easy to use

- was a quite disappointed with the picture quality, unless I had very good light my results were poor. Am playing around with different settings but the auto selection was disappointing. I have a Tamron 70-200 2.8 lens which turns out far better pictures,(even on auto) but I wiil persevere

+ Superb image quality and very well made. IS system works well and produces more good shots, even at full zoom. \supplied with lens hood, unlike most camera manufacturers models.

- Large front element size, meaning expensive filters. Rather expensive for the average hobby photographer.

+ Reasonably priced all purpose lens - if you don't expect too much

- Very disappointing results - it is O.K. providing tyhe light is good and you don't expect too much detail in your images.
A lot of noise and degradation of image quality when enlarged to more than 10x8 in.

- Seems to over expose the image more than other lenses. Just adjust the camera to suit and it is fine.

+ Great all round lens, massive range, no need to swap lenses, VC is very good handheld at 3 stops lower than normal. closest focus distance is great at 45cm, Free Lens Hood included

- image quality is good but not perfect at the extreme ends 18mm and 270mm, I can live with it but some wont, there is nothing that cant be sorted out with a little post picture processing, zoom creeps under its own weight although it will lock at 18mm

+ Ease of use and no need to keep changing lenses. No too heavy considering its range. From inexperienced to experienced amateur photographers this is a great one lens suits all occasions.

+ Compactness for a large zoom range is ideal for everyday use. Lends hood is provided as standard.

- Zoom ring sticks slightly at around 100mm - this was pointed out by other reviews that I had read before purchase.

+ This is an absolute cracker. I am comparing it with a Canon 70-200 f4 L IS USM and there is virtually no difference in quality. There is very slight colour fringing at the corners at 100% magnification. The central area of the frame is just as sharp as the Canon. I bought it as a holiday lens and now I am using it for everything, I just can't take it off. Brilliant!

- None really, apart from the very slight colour fringing at the extreme corners.

+ Good range from wide angle to tele, no real need to carry several lenses, this one will do most tasks adequately. I am pleased with the results so far even in quite challenging conditions.

- A bit slow particularly at the higher end of the tele range, the stabliser helps as does increasing ISO but image quality can be degraded.

- Tight spot in zoom ring around 100mm. Zoom creep when carrying with lens pointing down - it has a lock, but it only locks at 18mm, would be better if it could lock anywhere.

+ An excellent all round lens that has simplified my photography - no more lugging several lenses around as this one does the job of them all. And I don't miss the shot while I rummage around looking for the right lens either! It's a reasonably fast lens too - for the price.

- It's a little heavy - but not as heavy as two seperate lenses!

+ I FIND THIS LENS VERY EASY TO USE WITH GOOD RESULTS AND IT COVERS A NICE RANGE FROM WIDE TO TELEPHOTO

- A LITTLE HEAVEY, FIND IT NEEDS MORE LIGHT THAN MY CANON LENSES

+ I have only had chance to use on a couple of occasions but have been very pleased with the results.
