+ Design and look

- The material and the finish (final touch) are not ideal. Keep in mind that this is an A Grade phone, the material used and the ouside look should have been enhanced; at least to the standard of P9901. The camera is as well is not ideal. had Cypershot facility been added this phone would have been matchless.

+ The mobile phone features are user friendly and has greatly improved since the P900 series. I have been using Sony Ericsson mobile phones for more than 3 years now and even bought the Sony Cybershot mobile phone because of the picture quality of the camera. P1i is the best in the market for me at the moment.

+ Everything, its grand! I like the touch screen, overall its just really easy to use.

- Perhaps the keys are too small, probably better if the buttons were individual for each letter.

+ Smaller than P990i, good design, 123 & qwerty integrated keypad, back button in better position, internet actually works, Wifi is fantastic, great battery life - 6hours on internet and lots of calls and still some left!

- Stylus for touch screen is accurate, using fingers is not. iPhones touch screen is better prepard for finger navigation.

+ A lot of features in a very compact format, good screen and is fairly intuitive. The predictive text is way better than on my K800i and as I got my first Palm over 10 years ago the handwriting recognision is easy too!

- To select silent mode requires 4 clicks and unless you have small fingers you have to use the sytlus.

+ Keyboard is a joy to use, overall handling, weight and feel, perfect. Good logical sequence to menu. Feels ROBUST

- It doesn't easily connect to the PC
Return button on touch screen should have been placed on the lower right hand corner (for right handed people) or Lower left hand(let handed People) This can be done at set-up where the phone will ask you for your hand writing default.
Typically you grab the phone with your hand, its a bit of a stretch to tap on the button at the top right corner.

+ It's a great little phone with all the features I require, push email, camera and organiser

- The screen is very dim even on the highest setting in normal daylight. I have it set to auto lock with a pin code this is too short a time before activates and it is fidderly to get the number in , while using it in daylight

+ I love this phone, it's exactly what I needed, I can check my emails on the mover, type my coursework on long train jouneys or just browse the internet when I'm bored.

- The navigation is not the best. This my 4th sony ericsson phone and it's by far the most difficult to navigate around. I love the keyboard but it does take some getting used to - especially once I've had a manicure I have to relearn how to use it.

+ Having Used All Of The 'P' Range Of Sony Phones This Has All The Good Points Of All The Phones Put Together. I Can Not Think Of Anything That Concerns Me About The Phone.

- When Using The Video Camera It Is Not Possible To Keep The Light On While Filming (At Least I Haven't Found A Way!) I Had This Feature On A Previous S/E Phone And Found It Useful But It Seems They Don't Do It Anymore.

Expert reviews for Sony Ericsson P1

TechRadar expert review

On paper, there are plenty of interesting features that might draw you to the Sony Ericsson P1i. It's a 3G phone with quad-band support that packs a 3.2-Megapixel camera and uses a jog wheel to navigate the Symbian menus. You can also use the 2.5-inch touchscreen to control the functions of the phone and all in all the candybar design is reasonably attractive and slips in your pocket with the minimum of fuss.Mix business with pleasureBusiness users will be interested by the prospect of the BlackBerry Connect v4.0 software that enhances the email appeal of the P1i. This is great and…
