Sony NAS-E300 Hi Fi System Reviews: with

+ Easy to use and set up.

- Could be prettier but would not want to substitute quality for looks.

+ DAB radio is excellent.Nice to have a hard drive.It comes with an Ipod dock and you can also dock your Sony MP3.Very compact,good if you`re tight for space.

- Haven`t really found any bad points yet.The sound could be a bit richer,but it performs well for what it is.

- Unclear as to whether or not you can back up disk in one go or as individual albums only.
Will only use FAT32 files to download to external drive.

+ Very easy to record a CD to the hard drive, jut put in the CD and press a button. The built in databse can be upddated on the web if it doesn't recognise a cd. Copying mp3 files from a USB stick is also very easy and quite quick. The blurb states the 80gig hard drive will take 2000 albums, i have loaded up approx 150 so far and there is plenty of space for more. Build quality of the unit and speakers is excellent as you would expect from sony. Not used the iPod dock yet but that is also a solid good quality bit of kit. Overall highly recommended.

- Poor DAB arial, supplying a piece of wire with kit of this quality is annoying, that said the DAB reception in my area is good so it sounds great. Some minor base and treble adjustment possible but a graphic equaliser would have been better. Only minor issues really,

+ Sound quality and overall design are very good as is the fact that it is not complicated to use. Living in an area with poor DAB reception I was surprised that it picked up any stations at all but it did and very clearly too.

- The fact that the ipod dock is a seperate plug in attachment is a little untidy but is something you can put up with because of all the other functions like the hard drive and pen drive reader and the ability to transfer files from one to the other.

- MP3 bitrate only, Ipod not seen via.usb so dock playback only

+ The unit is compact and easy to operate, I like the storage facility for disc etc.

should be able to organise tracks in folders on machine - ie swap from one to another
when uploading cd's to hard drive, the title information isn't uploaded with tracks
bit fiddly finding correct adaptor for mp3 / i pod players
