The camera is light and easy to use and fits in the palm of your hand with inbuilt stabilisation. Comes with touch screen which I am used too although not everyone's cup of tea. Full HD on HD TV is just fantastic. The Hard disc drive on the camcorder saves money on buying other media and no need to change media as long as the battery or wired recording. Take photos whilst recording video footage too! Lots of features...Great camcorder at an excellent price from a great Sony brand. Breeze to Use!
-
Battery life and software. Although the software should be fine with Sony Laptops/PC.

I wanted HD recordings but didn't know before purchase that HD would only play on Blue Ray players. The instructions are far too complicated to understand. I've spent all that money on something I cannot get my head around and consequently will probably never use!!!

Excellent quality for outdoor shooting
Colour quality is superb
Very good zoom, possibly the best in an HD camcorder
Touch screen LCD is excellent and the menus are easy to use
-
Indoor shooting is not great
If you are filming an outdoor night scene, you should try not to have too much of the black sky in the view because this camcorder does not handle low light conditions very well
There is no video recording light although you can buy one and attach it to the horseshoe port on the top of the camcorder
There is no viewfinder for when you dont want to use the lcd screen.

The camcorder is fast to start up, you are recording in no time at all. The touch screen is easy to navigate.
The camcorder is nice and compact. I purchased this as we have our first baby on the way, and I wanted to have the best possible recording quality on todays market at a resonable price. I dont own a HD TV yet but this isnt a problem as the software enables you to convert to normal DVD. I will be able to store the recorded files on my PC ready for burning to Blue Ray in the future. I have tested the image quality on a friends 46inch Sony telly. The image quality in a well lit scene was sharp and crisp with good colour representation.
-
Not really anything of major concern, but you will need to purchase an HDMI to Mini HDMI cable for connection to a TV in HD mode. If you want to use the camera function and need a big flash then you must buy Sony's own flash system. (The camcorder does have a normal small flash built in)
I found the image a bit grainy in darker situations, but this is more than likely me as i am still just playing with the camcorder. I didnt put on the spot light or make any adjustments to the settings.

Nice and compact, but not too small. Perfect for panning low to high keeping the image still in the frame. Quick response to most important commands. Zooming in and out is smooth and clear.
-
In windy conditions the noise is quite noticeable during playback, perhaps a muffled microphone might help?

Light and easy to use, compact and stylish.
Great picture and sound quality when played back in HD.
I’m no David Bailey, but the footage I took from the top of Mont Blanc is truly stunning quality with this little beauty.
-
I would certainly recommend buying a bigger battery as the one supplied with the camera is rubbish, this is a costly extra however do not let this minor point put you off buying this other wise excellent product. , come on Sony WHY skimp on a little thing like a battery unless it’s producing a greater revenue with idiots like me buying a bigger battery from you!
In sunny conditions it is difficult to view the screen and see what you are shooting, a minor inconvenience when you consider the over all product.
That’s about all the bad points I can think of.

High definition. x15 optical zoom. Used it on Safari in South Africa. The quality very good. When filming a leopard in a tree at twilight with other cameras the leopard was dark. The SR10E self adjusted to produce perfect footage. I have watched all the footage from the trip in HD on a 42inch screen and it is stunning quality.

Small and compact with an easy to use touch screen interface - read the instruction booklet first though to make the most of its features!! Hard drive holds a lot of content and recording quality (particularly in daylight) is fantastic!
-
Software supplied is not the best. To make the most of its qualities spend some dosh on some decent editing software. Still shot quality is not the best and i would probably expect more from a HD recorder - cant really grumble at this though as i bought it as a camcorder and not a still image camera.

Top product. From a man who has not used a camcorder since the early 90's, I was blown away by the quality of the picture. The stills are superb as is the ease of use. The battery life is ok, but I expected as much, as this is a common feature with all camcorders. I would recomend this to anyone.

Image Stabilisation

|
Yes
|
If a photo is taken at a slow shutter speed, or at a long focal length, the effects of ‘hand shake’ will be amplified. Some cameras come with built-in image stabilisation which is designed to act against this to produce sharper images.
It’s great for low light shots without a tripod, like at a gig.

A camera sensor, that captures the photograph, is measured in pixels. The number given here is the horizontal amount of pixels followed by the vertical quantity of pixels.
The more pixels a camera sensor has, the bigger and higher quality the image will be.
