modern, stylish and easy to use camcorder

Lightweight, compact and even on 30Gb it still has over 450 minutes of filming on the highest quality which is more than enough for a two week holiday and more. The internal memory means you don't have to carry spare tapes or dvds and then have to edit your filming onto a video player when you get home, you edit your filming anytime any place. Also the Carl Zeiss lens is of the highest quality and the price with Jessops is the lowest anywhere on the internet. And it looks good too.
Comes without a carrycase as standard and the standard battery life can be a little low if you don't want to charge it up after about two hours of continuos filming, which means quite an expensive upgrade to a longer life battery, although under normal usage a recharge would be after about three days.

Handy little camera with great video quality
Didn't come with software for Apple Computer so that's a negative aspect in my view.

At the moment I have only recorded images and played back on the TV, but have been impressed with what I've seen so far. It's feels very light and easy to use.
The battery doesn't seem to last that long once you start recording or playing back. The amount of mins that is shown as how much you have available doesn't seem to corelate to how much you actually use the machine, invariable you get a lot less time. However, the battery does how its charge very well between uses.

Paul, Rochester, Kent, “experiment, outdoors, fun, life”
Easy to use, excellent sound quality, and easy to transfer images and video.
Like most HDD cameras in this class, the still's image quality is poor, (as expected). When freezing video and then capturing images, the quality is 'downgraded' to the camera's default 0.3m pixels, which is a shame. Not the end of the world though, as you can always transfer to PC and then use other editing software to capture stills from video. Still very happy with camera and would recommend for sure.

Carol, Sheffield, “Novice camcorder user.”
Fairly easy to use, having had a bit of practice. Nice & light.
Sometimes you can get a 'mirror effect' on the view window, making it a little difficult to focus on your object at first. But you get used to it and learn to ignore it.

Excellent Image Quality, Easy handling and good returns to the spect money.
Battery darins out lot sooner then expected......However rest of the features motivate you to buy when comapred to lone disadvantage

The camera is very light and compact which is great, The image of the photo shots are not that good abit like a phone camera. However the video images are fantastic the zoom is brilliant. The scene selection is easy no more forwarding and rewinding to find your scene. I havent done the dvd burner yet but I understand its a touch of one button.
The only downside I could say was the battery life as it gives you around 35 minutes, so bad for a day out. Need back up batteries.

I really like the ease of use of the camera and every one in my home loves using it just as much as they like being in front of it.
The microphone is not as sensitive and sound is not recorded as clearly as I would have likes.

Easy to use, lightweight and high quality video images.
Stills images not so great but to be fair I'd only purchased it for its video recording capabilities and not dissapointed.

This sony camcoder is good like other sony products. Its image quality is good. I found it very easy to use. So I am very satisfied with it.
Battery life is not ok. When I bought it I charged it for 10 hours. Then I could use it for only 80 mins. But this camera can record nearly 700 mins. How can I do it with this kind of battery? In my opinion if I can shoot for 200 minutes with a battery then I can call it a good battery.

Compact size, build quality, features and image quality
Clicking / ratchet sounds as well as zoom motor can be heard on audio track during playback.

Very easy to use and results are amazing for such a small camcorder
It would have been good to have a longer battery life

Anonymous, “lazy gadget lover”
easy to use and delivers quality images without lots of configuration
the 40x zoom is a good idea, but you get alot of camera shake when you are at this zoom. Also with no view finder the image on the LCD is hard to read in bright sunshine but this will apply to any device not just the Sony.

Tessa, Portsmouth, “Busy mother of three”
This is a lightweight and easy to use camera with superb focus and zoom. Because of it's size it is easy to carry around and when you want to start filming you literally pull it out, press the button and off you go. I find the touch screen for playback very easy to use and thanks to its size and weight there is very little shaking . . . as I'm filming. Excellent value for money.
Can't really think of anything so won't put something down for the sake of it.

Small & light
No viewfinder - difficult to see in bright sunlight. No Firewire - I use Pinaccle Studio for video editing and it will only recognise a connection to a digital camcorder via Firewire. This means I have to download footage via the Sony software then pick up the file via P{innacle, putting another step in the process.

very good additional featues,lightweight,compact
the image quality is poor especially the colour which is nothing like reality and all said and done, this is the main function of a camcorder-not features and gadgets

I think this product is good value for money, but would benefit greatly from an eye level viewfinder and the ability to swich off the LCD, this would greatly enhance battery power and also ease the use in composing the frame when the sun is behind you, which is frequently!!

extremely small and lightweight. Easy to use for filming right away. Excellent zoom facility. No problem connecting to laptop using usb cable.
Battery life quite short, have to remember to keep it charged. I am left handed - this camcorder is definitely for right handers. A bit fiddly connecting to TV but once you can do it, is fine. No cover or pouch to keep it in. This costs extra.
