Sony Bravia KDL-32V5500 Reviews: Bravia, 32" Screen LCD Full HD 1080p TV

+ Design of the actual monitor is unique, picture is crisp...quality on full hd (1080p) when watching sky hd or playing a games consol, i have a ps3 and cant get over how intense the picture quality is!!! Definate value for money!!

- Remote control is not user friendly

- My only (very minor) complaint is that the sound mute button on the remote unit could have been positioned more ergonomically so that i could deal with those infernal commercials more efficiently.

- The instructions to connect an old VCR using an AV1/2 Scart socket are I believe inaccurate in the manual. So far I can only play and record to the old VCR via SCART using the Analogue TV selection and certainly not by selecting AV1 or AV2 as advised in the manual.

- Realise how technology has pass me by, have now purchased a Sony Blu-ray Home Theatre Package to compliment this TV........no fault of the TV, just realised what I've been missing!

- could be a little unstable on it's stand. Not keen to drill through my new TV stand to attach a bolt as advised.

+ The clarity of the picture is excellent. Overall, we are VERY pleased with the television.

- The only small criticism would be the size of the border at the bottom of the screen, but I guess this has to be this size as it incorporates the speakers.

+ Quality of Freeview picture and quality of display of standard definition DVDs and Hard Disc recordings. Clean design. Autotuning quick and accurate, particularly for digital.

- Sound suffers because of small loudspeakers necessitated by design. Manual tuning procedure inadequately and confusingly described in instruction manual. Display of adverts on Programme Guide page is annoying.

+ Excellent picture.
Easy to set up, access guide and use.
Sound quality good, though sometimes a little muffled. I don't like surround sound (or multi speakers, or whatever it is termed) as it actually distracts me when something I see happening on screen, I actually hear from a totally different direction. I often (briefly) think it was caused by something else, such as the cat, or a visitor, in the fraction before I realise it is the TV, and this can break the spell. This sounds fine, but as I said, sometimes not quite sharp enough (maybe my hearing is going!).

I would have preferred a smaller unit - a 28/30 inch screen perhaps as it is in a small room, and even in a larger room, I don't want the TV to dominate, but there are fewer smaller ones, and the prices are not as competitive.
I don't like the starkness of the black surround - again it makes the TV stand out in the room. I chose it because my brother poined out to me that if I was watching something in widescreen, then the black bands at the top and bottom of the screen would be more noticeble against a different coloured surround, but I would have preferred a choice of something more in keeping with my furnishings, which are oak bookcases and fireplace.
