Attractive style of design with manual controls discreetly placed out of direct vision when viewing, but easily
accessible at top of set.Good quality of picture which perhaps is confirmation that as this model is lcd type
and, is used in a room which gets lots of daylight confirms the Which Magazine report which recommended
lcd television usage rather than plasma in a bright environment.
-
Sound quality not quite as good i thought it should be compared to other sony television purchased 2 years
previously, that said previous purchase is a larger model with a 32" screen and cost considerably more that
model kdl- 20s3030 .Would have liked model kdl-20s3030 to have had a facility to swivel as television used
in kitchen where there is a lot of movement. Mentioned lack of swivel option to sony technical who advised
that they had no plans at present to produce swivel stand options which is a pity.

Nice design and very user friendly.
-
You have to view it full on from the front as the images are not very clear at an angle but I think this may be the norm for all LCD TV's.

Sharp image. Good colours. Sound quality excellent given such small speakers. Plenty of extra input and output connection provision.
-
Annoying display of program information on changing channels (in digital mode). Information occupies too much of the top of the screen and stays there too long. Other TVs simply display the channel identity for a short time and provide information about the program by pressing a button on the remote. Now and next program information could also be provided.
Another negative is that, when the order of channels is changed, the channel numbers are also changed. This can be quite confusing. For me, ITV1 should always be channel3 even if it is listed after BBC1,2,3,and 4
The menus contain rather too much information for a 20" screen. This criticism also applies to the EPG although I can see why Sony want to have the same software for the whole range of TVs.

for the size it is the sound is awesome!! only 2 front speakers but does very well at sounding surround.
picture qualiity is great after changing some of the settings i.e lowering the contrast, turning off sharpness (taking this off reduces blurs around images) and having it set to vivid image.
-
the design is a bit dated, sony have focussed on picture and sound rather tahn design of the tv. I agree with sonys priorities but it does look slightly dated compared with the new samsungs screens. i would defo go for the sony every times.

Screen Size in Inches

20
Screen size is measured diagonally from corner to corner.
Type of Screen

LCD
Most small flatscreen TVs have LCD screens. Some larger TVs have plasma screens. Some very new TVs have LED screens. Traditional TVs are called Standard or CRT.
HD TV

HD Ready
‘HD Ready’ is a Europe-wide standard designed to made HD technology less confusing. HD Ready TVs must have
• Minimum vertical resolution of 750 pixels (in widescreen format)
• Ability to display 720p and 1080i formats
• An HDMI or Digital Video Interface (DVI interface)
Full HD is a higher standard. Full HD TVs have screen resolutions of 1080p and can output at least 24 frames per second.
Full HD is becoming common, but you won’t see Full HD on normal TV channels for a long time, so it remains optional for many people.
HDMI Interface

1
Like a scart interface but capable of carrying HD signals from or to other devices. You’ll need these to link your Playstation 3 or your Blu-ray player to your HD-ready TV.
Number of Scart Interfaces

2
Scart sockets are places where you can connect other devices to your TV. If you already have a DVD player, a VCR and a Playstation you might want to make sure your new TV has enough Scart interfaces so you don’t have to keep crawling round the back of the TV.
Frequency (Hz)

50
A TV’s frequency is how often the picture is updated per second, and is measured in Hertz (Hz). A higher frequency, such as 100 Hz, means that a TV is more likely to show fast-moving images with high detail.
Contrast Ratio (X:1)

4000
This figure is designed to tell you how much difference there is between dark and light colours on the TV. It is quoted as a ratio, between the brightest white and the darkest black. 500:1 means the brightest white is 500 times more bright than the darkest black. Plasma screens have historically boasted better contrast ratios than LCD screens.
Screen Resolution (pixels)

768p
The number of pixels the screen has. The more you have, the more detail the screen can display, given a high quality source.
A breakdown of resolutions can be found on Wikipedia here

Also known as the viewing angle, it’s a measure of how good the picture looks when you are not face on to the screen. Higher is better.

This is a ratio of the horizontal to the vertical size of the screen. 16:9 is standard widescreen format for TVs, replacing the older 4:3 format.
