+ I have now had three Blue Ray machines...The Samsung was so slow I gave up...the Sony 300 was OK but I couldn't get a firmware upgrade from anyone, plus these machines were not multi region. The Sony 550 is perfect...small and portable, multiregion with enough outputs to satisfy everyone...I can even use a monitor via the 'video out' as I use a Panasonic Projector....Brilliant machine!

+ Image quality is crisp and very sharp. no blur on fast image sequenses and sound quality is very clear.
Upscaling old dvd's is also very good and the image seems much clearer then before.

+ Picture is extremely good, upscaling of normal DVD's is very good. Ease of use and set up is comprehensive but straightforward.

- No wi-fi for internet connectivity, should be fiited on a product like this. Not everyone keeps their modem/router where their television is.

+ Great Picture and sound quality

- The film does not resume from the postion that it was last stopped. Sony had this problem with the PS3 and a later update resolved the issue. Hopefully since the unit is internet connected an undate will be available soon to correct the issue.

+ The picture quality is superb, the machine is easy to use and attractive in its design and display. Also the volume on the TV can be changed using the Blu Ray remote control as both are Sony products.

- Not a great difference in sound but I dont have a home cinema set up which would be beneficial in this area.

+ This Blu ray is a step up from our old Samsung, It's alot faster to load easyer to use and the picture and sound are awesome, and that's without suround speaker. We got our from 1st audio as it was the best price after shopping around.

- We have had it for a month and a bit now and had no problem with it.

+ Fantastic picture quality and sound quality/ direction from the onboard decoder is excellent. I have an Arcam AV50 AMP which is prologic but has inputs for an external 5.1 decoder/ DVD player.

- A minor niggle given the picture and sound quality but need to use the remote to navigate to menu on discs. Cannot use the controls on the front of dvd player until in dvd menu.

+ Looks great, easy to set-up (incl. 5.1 analogue out sound). Super picture quality on BD and very goog on DVD, fantastic sound (better than my previous player). Very quiet in operation. Network update very easy via ethernet link. A++++

- Remote does not enable number pad use on my LG TV. Only volume and channel up/down. Backlit remote could light-up all the buttons rather than just the bottom half. but I'm nit picking now :-)
