The phone is very east to use. I was very happy with the camera probably the best 8 mega pixel camera phone, it has a better picture quality than the pixon or lg renoir. Very fast internet and the touch system is alot better than the original tocco. The design of the phone is very nice.
-
The paint work on the back of the phone gets scratched very very easy. Battery is decent if you don't use the touch system much, it will last a day easy but will need charging at night. Apart from those two bad points it is a very nice phone and is very easy to use i would reccomend it to anyone.

Looks great - that is the first thing that strikes you about it, even if looks aren't everything. The touchscreen interface is up there competing with (my) ipod Touch 2G, the sensitivity is perfect for me, and the richness/depth of colour on the AMOLED screen does rather leave other screens behind. Not being keen on slide phones myself, the good thing about the Tocco Ultra is that you only have to slide the tactile keyboard down to use the camera, use the speaker phone and possibly to switch between open applications etc but I haven't tried a lot of that yet so not sure, otherwise, you don't have to meddle around trying to slide the thing open to use the phone. The 8 MP camera on board as well worth having as is the video camera - my 'stand alone' digital camera is 8 MP and there is nothing between them except maybe a stand alone camera is more practical/ergonomically designed than this handset, but that is hardly worth mentioning (even though I did). The handset is dead easy to use, with all the icons on the menu screen and the menus themselves very responsive to touch - never had a problem launching anything so far, and, importantly, haven't accidently launched anything because of icons being too close together...they're not. I've read this is a problem on other Samsung touchscreens....well, not the Tocco Ultra! Like the red but not garish tactile keypad and the red trim around the screen as it breaks up the otherwise brown-grey (a lot more attractive than it sounds!) handset, which is very solidly built, if very slippery to hold - terrified I'm going to drop it! Most solid handset I've ever owned. Have yet to set up email, but web browsing is good - as I am in a 3G+ area, it's fast. Whether wirelessness would have been faster still, I don't know. Moving a web page around the screen, dragging it with your finger, is not bad at all - seems a tad slow sometimes. All in all, if your're into style/the latest thing coupled with immesnse functionality, don't know which web phone (if that's what they're called) to get, the Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition is the one!
-
Okay, there are no bad points really. However.....
Considering it's a phone to browse the web, the screen might have been a a few mm's bigger all round, but then the handset would be bigger, I guess, and I think it's just the right size. The only 'real' bad point, as with so many phones, is the battery life. Sometimes it seems to last quite well, others, it seems to go down before your eyes. Web browsing, obviously, does rather bleed it as does shooting/viewing video. But, hey, it's not so difficult to charge it up every other day now is it? Unless your in a cave somewhere on a frequent basis. The standby time seems pretty good at least, and I charge it maybe twice a week through not-too-heavy-use. Any way, that's the last and only real bad point, just don't let it put you off!

The phone looks good it is easy to use. I was quite concerned about buying a touch screen and one of the reasons i chose the phone was because it had the keypad also. I have never used the keypad since having it. The best touch screen ive used so far!
-
The battery life isn't so good. If you don't use the phone constantly and you are only making the odd phone call or sending the odd text the battery life is OK, but if you are constantly for searching the web etc the battery life will last approx a day!!!

most things about the phone are good and easy to use

texting - when you use predictive text then want a commer or full stop after the word it changes the word .....for example 'adam.' would be changed to beam. so before you presss the full stop or commer you have to make a space then press delete to then get a commer of full stop against the correct word. also if you make spelling mistake when not using predictive text it is hard to get back to that word to amend it as you have to touch the screen with your finger but our fingers are bigger than the letters os it'll sometimes put the cursor next to the word on the line underneath!

Good phone with sleek design. The option of touch and keypad is an excellent feature.
-
Battery does not last very long. The phone vibrates when you touch it which runs the battery down so much and even when you turn the vibrate off you will be lucky if the vibrate lasts a day and a half. The only other thing is it is quite hard to open a message because when you click on view it takes a few presses to open it and sometimes opens the shortcut menu down the side. But despite these bad points it is still an awesome phone and i would recommend it!

vibration isnt strong enough - dont feel it when in your pocket. Also, it is hard to navigate back during a text to correct a mispelled work - you can tap the word but it doesnt go to the right letter that you want to correct. Quite frustrating as you then need to delete the whole text to correct it.

This phone is an amazing 3G device, since this is my first 3G phone i'm amazed and the speed of the internet on the device. Surfing the web is like using a laptop, although i would reccomend Opera Mini and not the webnwalk application as it's rather slow. The camera is the highlight of this phone, the ability to snap shot on the spot with lots huge detail and able to crop later with out loss of quality is amazing, I was impressed when usig the camera in the night , not many blurrey photos ( anti shake must be on!) .
Although It's the small things that impress me like 'find track' mode like track id is supererb and fast. (3 seconds to find a song on 3G). The organizer is gd but not the best if you are a business user, but for me i find it user friendly. The sound qualtiy is superb it easily mathces my dedicated samsung mp3 played ( and apple's ipod). last but not least the GPS google maps is gd but too slow to replace your sat nav. it's more of a 'i'm lost where am i ?" app to find which street your in.
-
There arn't many bad points it's a shame they are quite impotant 1's. Many people do complain about battery life, i do agree if you are a heavy user, i can get 2 days out of it using videoo and camera. which is poor although standby time is exellent around a week of sandby. reason being samsung chose it on the cheap by using 880mAh which is the same as my brothers W510i which uses a fraction of the battery power. Many people find texting annoying while there is a minor software glitch in texting i found the keypad easy to use and almost no 'adjusting' time to texting thanx to it's T9 auto spell, although i did use to have a motorola.
My worst complaint is the signal in my area, unless you're in the city and stood next to a booster, 3G connection is poor compared to using 2G which was extemely reliable. And thats it, all in all a good pohne if you can live with these issues - and i find the good poins out ways these problems.

Very beautiful phone, very stylish and a nice screen. The menus are well laid out and it has great multimedia features. The phone features are also top quality as it has a great contacts system, the mic and speaker are very clear and the 3g system is excellent. A really nice phone that no other compares to.
-
Touch screen is aweful. After owning an iTouch you are fully aware of how responsive a good touch screen is and this isn't a good one. It just doesn't respond unless you really press carefully and its not easy to use. Its also very slow as if you were to enter a word and then press space you'll find you've got wrong and missing letters as well as no space. It also stops scrolling when you take your finger off, which is just wasted momentum. Its a fantastic phone and is very stylish and the quality of the screen is fantastic, its just the touch system that lets it down.

A stunning and compact design, the touch screen is responsive and the interface is intuitive and easy to use and understand. The phone feels solid to the touch and is small enough for one handed operation unlike most other smartphones and the current plethora of iphone clones!

Battery life is decidedly average, especially when new (so many features to explore). The colours currently available may not be to everyones taste. The red definately has more than a hint of pink and baby blue is not for me.

Looks great. Excellent camera. Browsing is fast and easy. Sound quality is good. Display clear and bright and easy to see, especially with the accelerometer to enable viewing horizontally or vertically. Choice of keypad or virtual keypad means faster typing and made the transition to a touch screen phone was no problem. Easy to use and the widgets sidebar means quick access to anything you use regularly. Generally pleasing and easy to use all round.
-
As with most phones, the display is not easy to read in sunshine. I haven't found a way to scroll thru text already written but have found that I can place the cursor by tapping the text in the relevant place. I have also 'lost' a widget a couple of times and assumed that I had 'whizzed' them too far off the screen. To get tehm back I had to remove them from the sidebar and then put them back. I would definitely recommend the S830 and have already done so!

Volume could be slightly higher - don't always hear it when in handbag. Battery needs to be recharged more frequently than previous handset.

Excellent screen, fast and simple to use. The scrolling contacts is very good. Widgets are nice and simple customise. Sound quality excellent, and with the 8gb mini sd I added, it carries plenty of songs and video. Being able to customise your home screen with widgets is nice, and the scrolling window is ace. Photo quality great inb good conditions.
-
Battery life isn't great. If I talk for more than 60 mins and do some web browsing and photos, it's down to one bar in a day. Not good if you're out all day without a charger. Touch screen can be fiddly, particularly clicking on some links on web pages. I don't seem able to lock widgets down to the home screen - it's easy to lose them as it's such a big scrolling area. Photo quality not so great in poorer conditions, and camera quite slow.

Very bad battery life, I would expect far better of a phone at this price and build quality..like buying expensive sandwhich and finding no filling in it!
Also onscreen touch keypad can be very sluggish, just as well they put real key pad on or I would quickly loose patience altogether.
If I could go back in time would have got the Blackberry, better made, easy to use, they covered all the basis.

Great slim design, the Koreans definitely know how to make their phones appeal to the fashion market! Nice colour, not too heavy.
-
The software is a bit jerky, when scrolling through contacts it gives off the vibrations that means the screen should be scrolling but it isn't.
The battery only lasts 1 day, and that's only making 1 short call of about 2 minutes, sending about 20 - 30 sms and going on facebook 3 - 4 times.
The T9 dictionary is dreadful, it's not intelligent like on other phones, if you put a word in, that word is then ALWAYS the first suggestion, every time I type "let" it now comes up with "Kev" instead of learning that I always scroll through to let, it just doesn't learn, very frustrating!

I love my Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition...Not only does it look good (I got the red one) Its packed with features and with the combination of touch screen and keypad make it easier to use. The camera is brilliant and all you would expect from an 8MP. Browsing the internet is easy and very quick. The headphones i got with the phone are excellent, great sound off them. Holds hundreds of songs and ideal to use as your personal music player with shuffle and playlist options.
-
when browsing the internet u have no option but to use the touch screen...a navigation key would have been useful (replacing the back key with a navigation key would have been better) sometimes if your trying to click on a link that is small, its quite hard to get the touch screen to select the small link...you often have to zoom in and out of webpages to help you.

First off, I love this phone. The touchscreen, while slightly laggy at times, is a lot easier to use than navigation buttons in my opinion. The camera quality is very much worth the money for this phone, along with its internal memory. The widgets are very handy, but also have a major downside, which i'll cover in the bad section. The sound quality of the phone is decent, along with a fairly good battery life.
-
Texting with touchscreen is a bit annoying, as if you make a mistake, and want to go back, you pretty much have to delete everything up to the point you want to correct. The touchscreen has a hard time pinpointing exactly where you want it to be in the text editor. The other downside to this phone, is the widget system. Whilst very useful, there is no function to lock the widgets in place, and if your keypad is unlocked for whatever reason, widgets can accidentally be moved around, which is very annoying.

The camera is amazing - really clear, colourful pictures with auto focus and an anti shake feature which work really well. It looks lovely and the touch screen works well once you're used to it. Software that comes with it makes it really easy to download and upload on and off the camera.
-
Very bad battery life. I'm having to plug it in every other day and I'm not even using it that much! Think the touch screen zaps the life out of it. However, I'm never far from home so don't have a prob plugging it in regularly. Wouldn't be good for someone who does a lot of traveling.
Takes a while to get used to it if coming from a different make - predictive text is a bit clumsy and there's no quick way to put an apostrophe in, which drives me mad as I'm very grammar conscious!

The touch screen option along with the keypad is excellent so yu get the best of both worlds, at first i didn't think i could get used to the touch screen but it's so user friendly i never use the keypad now. The camera and film quality are above excellent, it like having an expensive digital camera at the touch of a button. Really excellent design quality, it looks great! The vedio calls are an excellent feature, my partner and i can now see each other as we chat as he works long hours so this is a great way for me to see him.
-
The battery life doesn't seem to last that long which is a bit disapointing but it's not that big a deal!. Sometimes when i'm on a call the touch pad its hypersensitive and knocks my voice calls on mute as my ear has knocked it on.

Internet is speedy and easy to use. Found it simple to get used to the phone as I am a Samsung person anyway. Picture/video quality is flawless and the phone does have some good features. Screen display is also brilliant.
-
If you're using manual input rather than T9, the phone doesn't seem to understand and apostrophe, texting in general is quite difficult. Battery life is shocking, especially if you make use of the internet, at the moment I'm having to charge mine everynight.

The touchscreen is really easy to use. Sound quality through the supplied earbuds is fantastic. Picture quality if great, which you'd expect from 8mp. Overall a great phone and much more user-friendly than my husband's N96.
-
Really annoying is the fact that you can't type two letters off the same keypad button quickly, i.e. if you're typing "hello" you have to wait for the first L to settle in before typing the next one, instead of moving right and typing straight away. Linked to this is if you make a mistake, you can't go backwards and correct the error, you have to delete everything! A pain in the wotsit!! Other people have had issues with the battery life, but it's perfectly adequate for me - as long as you remember to close down the applications you're not using, there's no problem at all. Obviously if you use the phone for emailing and keeping up on Facebook, then it's not going to last for ever.

the 'phone looks good and i like the touch screen but it takes some getting used to! if you are creating a text message and make a spelling mistake you can go back to the word you have typed by touching the screen. (a previous review said you had to use the back arrow and this could delete text that was ok).
the phone is very light and thin- good for putting in your pocket.
-
my handset broke after 3 weeks. The screen was faulty and it had to go back for repair. (i have now got a new handset).
I am not keen on the choice of ringtones (but i am funny and like a normal ring and not a tune)
Not that easy to see the screen in sunlight (but are any phones?)
the user guide on the website and the booklet with the 'phone could have given a lot more information.
