+ quite easy to set up , looks nice and the touch sensitive buttons on the face of the unit are a neat touch . divx decoder means AVI files taken from the web can be played through a flash memory stick without converting and burning multiple dvds- these files can also be copied into the units hard drive ( i currently have 4 series of Lost and 20 circa dvd quality films stored with free space left over)

- the instruction manual doesnt tell you that use must put the unit to standby after you set a program to record, i had to phone customer care when i thought it was faulty. the units built in quide doesnt let you scroll through program listings and click 'ok' or similar to turn the channel over - you have to backtrack to the main viewing screen and select the channel again . doesnt also let you set a reminder for a future program like other models

- extremely difficult to use when connected to HDD - we still cannot work out how to use it - manual useless !!

+ There's no one good point about this product. I do though like the speed at which it changes tv channels.

- The LED could be alot brighter. Can't see what it says from the armchair. Got to be right up close. Maybe there's a control for it?!

+ all i can say is, out of many DVD recorders i have owned the Samsung is the best and i love it and will be ordering another for the bedroom soon

+ Very easy to set up - little tweeking in set up required as I didn't want the touch controls at front of panel

- If you dont pay attentions using the remote, it's easy to press a button thinking you're switching off but instead you're changing the mode of screen. This is a little irritating. Also, the dvd player seems to start playing on turn on when it's the TV I am turning on. Have now used it for a few weeks and have twice now had screen freeze. Turned unit off at mains which sorted it, but this would be irritating if you're watching something. This unit is 'only' a child bedroom accessory so these minor irritations are just that.
