The camera is fairly easy to use on the basic settings.
The quality of the images is ok for how many pixels it has.
It's good for basic photography or just quick snapshots
-
Other settings more complicated to use
When lens is zoomed in, quality is quite poor
Not good for people who want to take artistic photographs

Auto settings work well in most situations. Sunset setting gives pleasing results.
-
Picture quality at maximum digital zoom is iffy - go for the X5 optical zoom version if you want to take telephoto-type shots. Battery life is not great, but spare AAs are easy to get and carry. The case which came in the add-on pack at extra expense is robust but has an inadequate magnetic pad closure which opens at the slightest nudge, and it just holds the camera with no room even for a spare memory card never mind batteries.

Exactly what we wanted, its compact, lightweight, the display is the perfect size to review pictures and the the controls are easy to follow. So far the picures we have printed are brilliant.
We have added a 2 MG SD card and this means we can take plenty of photos and quite a lot of video.
Once the CD is loaded onto the PC, transferring pictures is very simple.

If you use the zoom you will probably get at the most three photos out of a pair of AA batteries. You need to either invest in rechargable batteries, lithium batteries or expect never to use any of the extra features, which is a real shame. this camera would have been a complete ten out of ten if it had a rechargable battery like the ones you get in a mobile phone. This is the only thing that lets it down.

Camera Type

Compact
There are 2 main types of camera: The SLR and the Compact.
SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder. SLR cameras have detachable lenses offering greater flexibility if you wish to take a variety of different photographs.
Compact cameras have a built in lens and an ‘above lens’ viewfinder which is less accurate but they are often cheaper, more sleekly designed and easier to carry anywhere with you to capture that moment perfectly without having to fiddle with complex settings or a bag full of lenses.

Digital Zoom Ratio

Not to be confused with optical zoom, digital zoom enlarges a portion of the image thus simulating optical zoom. In doing so, some image quality is lost.
Face Recognition

No
A function for automatically detecting peoples faces and correctly adjusting the focus and exposure to take the best photo
Image Stabilisation

No
If a photo is taken at a slow shutter speed, or at a long focal length, the effects of ‘hand shake’ will be amplified. Some cameras come with built-in image stabilisation which is designed to act against this to produce sharper images.
It’s great for low light shots without a tripod, like at a gig.

Having a memory card slot allows you to save data to a memory card and then transfer it to another device. For example you may put a photo from your camera or mobile phone onto a memory card and then plug it into your printer to print directly.
Memory card slots come in many formats:

Almost all modern cameras have autofocus. Manual focus allows you to override the autofocus and set the distance yourself. This is especially useful if your camera is struggling to focus in a low-light or confusing scene.
Timer

Having a timer function is essential if you want to get into the shot yourself. Make sure your camera has this feature if you plan to go on holiday and capture photos of you and your friends or family having fun together.

No
An under water feature means your camera is safe to dive with, usually between 3 and 5 metres. Most dSLR cameras will require expensive separate housing so consider investing in a waterproof digital compact first.
