- On switch is a bit fiddly and I have inadvertantly swithed the loudspeaker on instead of the earphone, disturbing people nearby briefly.

+ Excellent value for money; good reception, although sometimes in Cumbria this is not the best! Nice tone, compact and easy to carry

- Sometimes it is slightly difficult to get a positive tuning - again this may be because of locality and I would imagine that the preset radios are more satisfactory from that point of view. However, in view of the price, one really cannot fault this little radio.

+ Nice and light. I am oap with a stroke and it is great with my scooter. Use it mainly for sport, radio 5 and long wave, radio 4. Good with one hand. I think I liked my R9924 slightly better but I had that for years and years.

- Batteries don't last long!!

- reception on medium wave sport can sometimes be a bit lacking

+ I purchased this for my Father based on my experience of an older version which I have used a lot for about 5 years. The new version with its loudspeaker is an improvement on an already great product.

- The wire for the ear pieces broke after about 4 years use.

- tuning not quite as good as the 984 especially on busses

+ good for test cricket
