+ In the main a good camera. It's support of SDHC enables the use of large capacity memory cards (i.e. 4GB) but your card reader needs to support it too - SDHC cards won't work in a SD reader but SDHC readers can read SD.

- This may just be a fault in my camera but when recording a movie and using the mechanical zoom, the zoom can be heard on the recording and is very loud. My previous Optio WP didn't have this problem.

+ Compact, fast to start, bright screen great images with a 2 Gig SD card in there I can take more than 500 shots at full res. Battery lasts for ages and charges quickly too. The beach is no longer out of bounds. I love it.

- Its not a point and shoot camera as such which some might see as a disadvantage, almost half way between an SLR and a point and shoot which means once you know how to work it, it can do almost anything. But learning to use it will take a day of playing.

There are 2 main types of camera: The SLR and the Compact. SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder. SLR cameras have detachable lenses offering greater flexibility if you wish to take a variety of different photographs. Compact cameras have a built in lens and an ‘above lens’ viewfinder which is less accurate but they are often cheaper, more sleekly designed and easier to carry anywhere with you to capture that moment perfectly without having to fiddle with complex settings or a bag full of lenses.
