+ Sound quality is very good, especially from a HDMI source. Picture quality depends greatly on what you are watching, some digital channels broadcast a terrible image, and with a big screen such as this all you see are the flaws. Having said that, Blu-ray films look very good, the contrast is deep and the colours rich and vibrant, and this particular t.v. remembers it's settings for each input eg:sky channels require you to set the tv to high contrast and brightness in order to get the best image whilst on blu-ray you need a sharper more dynamic setting which the tv stores as a preference, including the sound level. The remote control is well laid out with big soft-touch buttons. The look of this t.v. has an overall feel of a quality product, and the stand it sits on feels very sturdy. I also liked the way that it will set itself up when you first turn it on, it scans all the available channels and stores them all in the correct order, gone are the days when I'd have to spend an entire afternoon trying to manually search through frequencies and then assign a channel number to each. One last note, having stood and looked at alot of other televisions in alot of stores, I would have to say that other than a PIONEER, (which is Waaaay out of my price range, and besides they stop making them in 2010) this represents the best image and sound when compared to all the others, that's why I bought it, 600hz, 1080p, high contrast ratio and it's a plasma, which at this size means none of the drawbacks of LCD such as ghosting, pixelation, poor black levels and faded colours. You pay for what you get.

- I've tried to be honest about my review, this is my first big flat screen t.v. and while I'm happy with my purchase, I will say that it is not THE most jaw dropping visual experience you will ever see (the only place for that is still in a cinema) As I have mentioned above, the image quality is entirely down to the source, if you can afford a digital High Def box like SkyHD then get it, same with Blu-ray, the picture and sound is beautiful, but on analogue or some of the lesser digital channels the image quality simply sucks. Also, as good as the t.v. is, it doesn't half attract the dust (though I realise that may be down to me) Aside from this minor gripe, there seem to be no other bad points. When it comes to BIG screen t.v.'s, spending a little more is better than buying cheaper, in the end all you get is a trade off, sacrificing enjoyment for the sake of saving a bit of money.

+ I was worried about how my sketchy freeview reception would look on a 50" screen. However, when it arrived and I plugged it in I was immediatley impressed by the quality of the picture. The tv upscales Sd very well with some scenes in films or visually stunning adverts looking like hd. The worst offenders were the music channels which broke up on my old CRT. The set up is fool proof and the design is striking. it looks impressive in my living room.

- Unfortunately a few features that I had read about in reviews of the G10, namely THX picture mode and Viera Cast are not available on the UK model which I bought (G10B). Although it makes me furious that these features are not available for UK buyers unless they shell out for the more expensive V10 model I still remain impressed with the TV.

+ I'll keep it short. The picture is brilliant and ignoring all the claims about how black is black etc, it has the wow factor. I bought this Viera to replace my original 42" Viera 2006 Model as my primary panel and the difference is amazing when using a like for like input (e.g. Sky non HD, upscale DVD). It was so easy to customise utilising a clear menu system and I am taking advantage of the Viera Link functionality to my other (enabled) Panasonic devices. Even setting up the network link was a doddle. It's early days yet (only had it 3 days) so just to explain about the picture, the colours are so lustrous watching the Simpsons is like seeing it in true colour for the first time. The blacks are amazing and the white is pure, giving superb contrast. My best example yet is having previously been to Vegas (If you have you'll know that the buildings are all lit) and then watched "What happens In Vegas" was like being there. The subtle tones and sharpness between light and shade was fantastic. Definitely no regrets splashing out on this one.

- none.

+ Picture quality is amazing, when compared to other competitors. Normally the bigger the size of the TV the more distortion of picture. However this Panasonic delivers in the picture quality and even analogue TV and freeview is clear with no blurring or double vision. High definition is crystal clear and well worth it. All Tv's are judged on the way they deliver deep blacks and this Panasonic does not disappoint, even in freeview the picture is of a very high quality. A lot of people are thinking about LCD, LED TV's and not plasma, however with the bigger LCD's and even LED's people can look very plasticky. Therefore I would still reccommend plasma screens and this Panasonic is among the very best.
If you are trying to purchase a top of the range quality TV with crystal clear picture without paying for the huge price, then this is the TV to buy. This TV is future proof technology and if I were to purchase a TV again I would buy this Panasonic again

- There are very few bad points with this TV, so I am looking at very small details! Sound quality is not of the highest of quality, however most sets now require you to have your own sound systems, so there is no difference in this Panasonic or any other brand on the market. Having being a big Sony fan and purchaser, I prefer the ease of use in the Sony menu's, however I suppose I will get used to the menu's on the Panasonic. Again for those with high definition accessories this will not be a problem but the set has only two scart leads and if you have a video and a non HD sky/cable box then thats all you can conect. The connection to a cinema sound system is a bit of a headache as you will not get surround sound by just connecting through the high definition cable. You will require a separate connection, which is a bit of a Panasonic glitch in what is an almost perfect product. But if you can live with these minor details then this is the product to buy.

+ Panasonic TX-P50G10 what can i say, The Best TV EVER, Fantastic Picture, skin tones Spot on, other colours rich and detailed , sound stereo seperation very good on the V-Audio setting consider that the speakers are down firing, Built in FREESAT, and FREEVIEW, this TV is Full HD but unless you input a HD signal in like Sky HD or BlueRay DVD you don't get a HD picture but you will still be inpressed with the qualty of the picture when watching programs from SKY, DVD, FREEVIEW and FREESAT, At the moment there are ony 2 channels on FREESAT that transmit HD Picture, BBC HD, LUXE TV HD, ITV sometimes transmitt programs in HD which u can choose to watch, not sure about FREEVIEW cos me antena is not working, Lots of inputs and suberb for watching movies and sport due to its very fast respons time, if you can aford to spend a bit more, then consider this TV or other Panasonic Models...VERY PLEASED

- None, but the remote could have been designed better for example the Volume and Channel up / down buttons could be placed in the middle near to the OK Selection Button and theres no Picture in Picture

The quality of the picture is awesome. 1080p and 600 hertz makes a real difference to viewing experience. I previously didn't watch much television but the sheer quality of viewing is simply amazing which makes it unmissable.

+ Great picture quality. In HD its fanastic. Great looking too and very slim. Lovely monitor design.

- Had old 42" Viera which had infinately better sound quality. Sound is only addequate. Also connectors on back of unit should be vertically mounted and not horizontal as this greatens the user depth of the TV with a slim wall bracket and makes it not so neat. Had to space the TV off the wall bracket.

I found it handy that the TV swivels on its base allowing me to adjust viewing angles easily and also allow me to get to the back of the TV easily.
Incredible TV for the money.

- Some SD pictures are not that good, but that was most probably due to my viewing distance.

+ Like a lot of these TVs, I think they're built with HD in mind. The HD picture is outstanding. The TV is also very easy to use, although I haven't hooked up the Freeview or Freesat HD as I have Sky HD already - so it was plug and play. The 600Hz sub-field for sports etc - looks good, although I still wouldn't call it perfect. Overall, a very decent 8 out of 10.

- The SD picture varies considerably. I have a full range of channels and can compare using Sky. Some, produce a very reasonable SD image, others are quite poor. Either way, the SD picture is pretty soft although I haven't yet played a lot with the settings. I'm letting the plasma run in for about 200 hours to avoid the possibility of image retention in the early days, so the setting are low for contrast etc. I'll have a better view once I've gone through this process.

the 600hz intelligent creation pro setting on football matches can cause a punctured look on the ball when moving fast, that said, if you turn that setting off, you get the best ever looking football match you are likely to see on sky hd, as the set running at 100hz is simply amazing.

+ Easy to set-up, easy to use. Great looking set. I've wall mounted mine but the swivel base is a good idea for stand mounting too. Fantastic HD pictures through my Sky HD set-up. Good colours with nice inky blacks.
I upgraded my DVD player to a Blu-Ray player when I bought this set and again the HD pictures are fantastic. Usual good Panasonic build quality and in my opinion the best set available in this price range.
A vast improvement on my old 42" Philips plasma.

- The only thing I would say is that the sound could be better but this is a problem with a lot of TVs nowadays as they try to pack so much into a compact design. Thankfully, as I have a surround sound system, I can overcome this small criticism. Also it took a while to get used to the sound of the cooling fan when the sound is low.

+ Very smart design, easy to set up with well placed connections. Menu screen is easy to use and navigate. HD quality is amazing watch a film like The Dark Knight or The Fast and the Furious on Blu-ray and it will blow you away. Also seeing an Xbox 360 run through a HDMI cable on a full HD TV is a massive difference to a non HD TV.

- I have read reviews that say the sound quailty is not very good, from my point of view its quite good, it goes loud enough and the V-audio surround is good enough just to watch TV on. I have it hooked up to a 5.1 stereo and dedicated subwoofer and would recommend something similar for DVD's and games.

- Only let down by poor sound quality. But if used with a surround system then no problem.

+ Incredible picture, natural sound and beautifully made - Deep blacks, well connected and all-in-all the best TV in its class.

- The Freeview guide is a little on the cluttered side. At very low volume it is possible to hear the fans.

- A new feature on the Panasonic range, involves streaming adverts on the television guide application. I find this somewhat of an irritant..As I would like the choice of when I am advertised to..other than that very happy with the television.

TV Buyers Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Full-HD NeoPDP Models with freesat built-in, Superb Moving Picture Quality and Advanced Networking Capabilities

“freesat” is a digital satellite service that offers free HD (High-definition) TV programmes. With the G10 series, you can enjoy sharp pictures, vivid colours, multi-channel sound, and various services with the interactive contents.

600-Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data, then optimises the sub-field to display fast-action scenes in full-HD resolution. And each frame is displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects.

VIERA incorporate an improved panel production process and the new Real Black Drive system. A pre-discharge control system, the Real Black Drive system combines with NeoPDP technology to achieve next-generation black reproduction. When you’re watching movies, VIERA renders images just the way the director intended, even in scenes where it’s difficult to achieve a proper balance of light and dark.

VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable. VIERA Link performance has been further enhanced with LUMIX digital camera connection. By connecting a new LUMIX camera that has an HDMI output terminal to VIERA, you can use the VIERA remote to control the playback of images stored on the camera.

It’s easy to view full-HD images with the SD Memory Card slot. Watch and show your photos and motion images right after you take them. Simply insert an SD Memory Card into VIERA to display photos and full-HD videos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music and 4 display effects.

V-Audio Surround gives depth-sound-image effect by early-reflection data based on actual room measurement, that is generated from digital signal processor.
