I spent 6 months deciding on which TV to buy. In the end I decided on plasma rather than LCD for good black levels and depth of colour, both of which are fantastic on this set. I was tempted to go for full 1080p HD, but decided at 37 inch screen size, there was no real justification and went for HD ready (saving around £150 which I put towards a Panasonic BD30 blu-ray player). The off-air digital pictures from the inbuilt tuner are better than SKY digital which I now rarely use. The blu-ray input gives an incredible result. I made the right decision. Buy this set folks!!

Excellent picture even with standard sky box.Colurs are superb, sports look as if you are there!Have an xbox360 with a hd feed, games look amazing as do dvds.Sound is more than adequate, was a bit concerned after reading other reviews that it might be too quiet but we havnt turned it much above half.We have had no distortion either. After having a 32"lcd previously(sharp aquos)we would never go back to one!Set up and tuning were really easy(havent used the freeview)and well worth spending a bit of time to get it right.

The only bad thing I can say about this tv so far is that the shiny black surround is a dust magnet! It looks great though, so well worth a daily wizz over with a cloth.

Would have liked to switch off information on AV channel in top left hand corner, when using my ipod. I have an obvious concern with plasma screen burning and the only option available seems to be provided by automatic lowering of contrast.

Design is superb, amazing Panasonic quality and expertise, connectivity is more than ample and setup and functionality is an absolute breeze... stick an upscaled 1080p signal through it or a blu-ray player and it'll leave you smiling well after the credits have rolled.

Bassy sound is a little rumbly now and then, especially in traffic scenes and when the action gets a little frantic, but it's not a major issue on 90% of movies (or cbeebies when my daughters are watching)

This is easily the best 37" television on the market. Fantastic picture whether you are watching Standard or High Definition programs. I didn't think a Plasma would ever impress me as much as a top spec CRT but this is fantastic.

The speakers, as with all flat panel TVs, lack a bit of bass, but if you are after the full cinema experience it';s worrth investing in a decent home cinema Amp and speakers anyway.

TX-37PX80B - Fantastic picture. Not full HD but I don't think we miss it at this screen size. Freeview and DVDs (via SCART) look much better than I expected. HUMAX PVR via SCART looks just as good as built-in Freeview. Blu Ray and PS3 (via HDMI) look sensational. Glass fronted screen ideal for protection from little hands - kids would destroy an LCD! SD card reading is a nice feature. PC input works nicely too but resolution not supported on my PC so it gets stretched a little bit. Sound very good but not exceptional, hence 8/10.

Great picture on DVDs and digital TV although older DVDs (especially old films) and TV programmes (on digital TV) can look either grainy or fuzzy on a large screen. Good blacks, no motion blurring, menus good. Although you must calibrate the TV for the first 200 hours and not have any areas with black bands (i.e. widescreen movies or 4:3 TV programmes); this can be avoided using the ASPECT options to stretch the picture or zoom in.
-
Not 1080 high definition but apparently there are no 37" plasma screens that are 1080 high definition (normal DVDs look great though so not really an issue).

Set up menu and facilities very easy to use. Good design, as the outer frame is small allowing the TV to 'blend' in a bit more with the room. We were worried about 37" as we thought it would look huge in our room but it blends nicely and with its slim design looks no bigger that our old 28"CRT. Cable connections are good and easily accessible. This is the smallest Plasma we could find and very good value. It was cheaper than many smaller LCDs but I believe provides for a much better image quality. With Panasonics reputation for quality and the price this is a must buy.
-
Not the fault of the TV but if you are buying a HD ready Plasma or LCD you have to accept that some older or lower resolution programmes will not upscale perfectly and you may get some image blurr and blockiness. The old CRT image was sharper all round but if you want the big screen and slim design then the occasional blurr on the old images is part of the territory. The TV did quite well in adjusting in most cases

Great picture. It was good to have Freeview pre-loaded and it would be even better if it was FreeSat!
-
Tinny sound as with most flat screen televisions. I had to buy home cinema system to get quality sound.

lots of features including 4 HDMI sockets & 100Hz scan. Lot of plasma for price.
-
not full HD specification, but at this screen size I don't think it makes a lot of difference.

Sound quality is fine, but really is enhanced by using home theatre system. Recommend Sony home theatre - together the quality is exceptional.

Superb picture; nice, understated design. Sound, whilst not hifi, is still a lot better than my old tv and I thought that was ok. A bargain at the price. I am more than happy with this tv.

Shiny black finish shows the dust, otherwise none.

Great picture, although would have liked 1080p for a screen this size. Lots of inputs. SD card slot great idea and works well.

Really ought to have a Toslink (optical audio) or Coax output
