+ The picture quality is very good with hardly any of the annoying artifacts that can be seen in LCD TV's and lesser Plasmas'

- If you want good sound quality don't rely on the internal system. Having said that for normal programs it is adequate. Forget the horrible V-Audio/V-surround and just adjust the equaliser to taste.

+ Amazing picture quality for a brilliant bargain price - along with the panasonic bluray player we bought the picture quality is comparable to 1080 tvs easily. Picture whilst watching tv is not as good as watching dvds but it is truly a great tv and I would definitely recommend it or at least any of the Panasonic tvs. Easy to set up and use and out of the box picture can't really be bettered. Remote is good and easy to operate. Get this tv running through some good speakers or a surround sound system and it gives incredible sound.

- Sound quality still an issue. I have a 32" panasonic LCD (last years model with V sound) that sounds better than this. Main problem is cabinet resonates at moderate volume.Additional sound system recomended.

- As any plasma need a bit of run-in time and have to be careful with stationary images/logos for the first couple of hundred viewing hours. Bit cheap-looking remote. A third scart connection would have been useful.

+ Very easy to join TV to stand + auto setup worked very well & was quick. The picture quality is excellent, even with the settings turned down during 'run-in'. Don't be put off if you think the picture quality is not so good in the shop - when it's at home & properly setup it's just stunning! Quite simply, this is the best TV I've ever owned.

- There is some reflection from the gloss bezel surround, which may irritate some people. This is not really a bad point for me as I have to concentrate to notice it! If you like listening at high volume, you may require external speakers, etc, but for 'normal' use it's fine.

+ A lot. So easy to put together, set up and use. Great picture and it looks good too. There are so many connection points for whatever you want to plug into it - you will never run out. It "reads" my DVD recorder, so that it automatically comes on when that machine does (which I didn't think it would!). It's a lovely piece of equipment and I am very happy I bought it (tho I'm beginning to wonder if I should have got the 42" instead!)

- The sound isn't true surround sound and actually sounds like my old TV did, but it will suffice until I can afford to get a proper dedicated surround sound system. It sometimes has trouble deciphering which other piece of equipment is on (cable, DVD recorder, DVD player) and so I have to switch the AV, but that doesn't happen very often - and now I realise I'm looking for bad points!

+ Easy to set-up, simple menu screens. Excellent sound and image quality (despite not FULL 1080 HD - which unless you got a 42" or bigger model is not necessary). Having done a lot of research for a new tv, this panasonic plasma is by far the best in it's price range!

- Glossy plastic surround collects and shows up dust easily.

+ Although the picture is not of the highest resolution, the picture quality is excellent.
Automatic set-up works extremely well.
I like the ability to watch TV and Teletext at the same time, by use of the split screen facility.
I like being able to scroll from one sub-page to the next on Teletext pages that have several sub-pages.
This television is good value for money.

+ So simple to set up; connect it and switch on, the set does the rest, finds all the channels automatically and puts them in the right order. It has updated the channel list since, too. I'm not on HD yet (looking forward to the Freeview HD rollout) but the picture seems well-nigh perfect to me as it is and it doesn't seem to matter how close you are to it either, which was one of my concerns beforehand. The build quality is excellent: solid, well-finished, it's hard to see how it could be improved. It's a Rolls-Royce of TVs.

- Coming from analogue, I find the Teletex a little clumsier, more button pressing needed, but this is a Freeview gripe, not a Panasonic problem. The remote is good, though I think the channel-change buttons should be nearer the top for more convenient one-handed use.

TV Buyers Guide

Manufacturer's Description

HD Models with 100Hz Double Scan, Superb Image Quality and Advanced Networking Capabilities

A PDP driven at 50 Hz causes an annoying flicker due to a shortage in the number of pictures displayed per second. Therefore, each picture is displayed twice as if the PDP is driven at 100Hz Double Scan, i.e., the number of pictures displayed is increased to reduce the flicker.

Next-generation black reproduction has been achieved by improving the panel production process, incorporating the new Real Black Drive system (a pre-discharge control system), and raising the base illumination. Even in movie scenes where it is difficult to achieve a fine balance of light and dark, VIERA renders images just as the director intended.

VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable. VIERA Link performance has been further enhanced with LUMIX digital camera connection. By connecting a new LUMIX camera that has an HDMI output terminal to VIERA, you can use the VIERA remote to control the playback of images stored on the camera.

It’s easy to view photo images with the SD Memory Card slot. Watch and show your photos right after you take them. Simply insert an SD Memory Card into VIERA to display photos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music.

V-Audio Surround gives depth-sound-image effect by early-reflection data based on actual room measurement, that is generated from digital signal processor.
