+ It found all the channels & set itelf up automatically within a few minutes of being switched on. Standard definition picture quality is very detailed with the whites very white & the blacks very black and the colours are excellent. I have not tried the HDMI inputs but the picture from my Humax 9200 through scart look just as good and even the picture from my ancient VCR looks better than expected

- Sound is rather hollow. You need to connect it to your HiFI etc to get good sound. Like other new TVs you cannot directly connect external speakers as I could with my previous 18 year old CRT set. You need to delve around in the menus to switch on the Eco mode which is not switched on in the default settings. Sometimes faces look too smooth & over processed & maybe blacks & whites a bit too extreme but I am still experimenting with the settings.

+ Excellent picture & sound. Does exactly what a TV should do and does it well. It's NEVER locked up unlike the cheap digiboxes.

- The remote control is cramped with redundant buttons for controlling Panasonic accessories - not much use if you've not got panasonic DVD/PVR/etc. The TV stops playing while viewing the channel guide. The channel guide has an unwanted Panasonic advert window wasting space - what's this all about?. It would have been better to kep playing the current channel.

- The only bad points is it doesn't have picture in picture display and also can't watch tv while browsing through the tv guide. It is also a dust magnet so be prepared to dust it every other day.

+ In my experience Panasonic TV's always have excellent picture qualities and this model is no exception.

- Since Panasonic is always highly rated by Which? for reliability, I'm surprised that it only offers a 12 months-guarantee. Cars, which are very much more technically complicated, have a 3-year guarantee and some are even guaranteed for 5 years. I think Panasonic should have sufficient faith in its own products to giuarantee them for 5 years.

+ Excellent user manual. Easy to use remote control. Subjective picture quality good on Freeview.

- Video adjustment - no numeric values for each parameter (contrast, brightness etc) to aid setting up same parameters after pressing "Normalise" button. Also greater number of custom "Viewing Modes" would be usefull. Performace with external composite video source disappointing.
A small screen and sound of TV broadcast would be better than advertisements whilst viewing the electronic program guide.

+ For an LCD, the colour reproduction and image quality are very good (even on standard definition). Sound is also surprisingly high quality.

- Expensive perhaps, compared to other models of same size ("you get what you pay for"). The SD card picture viewer can be a bit slow.

+ i think that this product is really good in the picture quality the most because i have an xbox 360 and it works really well with it brilliant 5 star.

- but there is only a few bad points which is not that bad but on my brothers TV his has touch screen on the side of the TV were this one has giant buttons and the standby light on the front of my brother TV has a blue ring and it looks really cool where this one only has a little square red lightnot hat bad but try to put a little more effort in when designing a new TV otherwise everyting else was brilliant.

Screen size is measured diagonally from corner to corner.

Most small flatscreen TVs have LCD screens. Some larger TVs have plasma screens. Some very new TVs have LED screens. Traditional TVs are called Standard or CRT.
HD TV	HD Ready
‘HD Ready’ is a Europe-wide standard designed to made HD technology less confusing. HD Ready TVs must have • Minimum vertical resolution of 750 pixels (in widescreen format) • Ability to display 720p and 1080i formats • An HDMI or Digital Video Interface (DVI interface) Full HD is a higher standard. Full HD TVs have screen resolutions of 1080p and can output at least 24 frames per second. Full HD is becoming common, but you won’t see Full HD on normal TV channels for a long time, so it remains optional for many people.
Freeview or Freesat Tuner	Freeview
Freeview is free digital terrestrial TV. FreeSat is a free digital satellite TV service, which gives you HD programming from people like the BBC without having to pay for a subscription to a service like Sky. You need a dish to receive Freesat but not Freeview. For more information see the Freeview site or the Freesat site.
HDMI Interface	3
Like a scart interface but capable of carrying HD signals from or to other devices. You’ll need these to link your Playstation 3 or your Blu-ray player to your HD-ready TV.

It is quoted as a ratio, between the brightest white and the darkest black. 500:1 means the brightest white is 500 times more bright than the darkest black. Plasma screens have historically boasted better contrast ratios than LCD screens.

Also known as the viewing angle, it’s a measure of how good the picture looks when you are not face on to the screen. Higher is better.

This is a ratio of the horizontal to the vertical size of the screen. 16:9 is standard widescreen format for TVs, replacing the older 4:3 format.
