- Despite what the instruction leaflet says, it will not record tapes from a VCR. It's fine from a camcorder, but camcorder tapes recorded on VHS tapes cannot be recorded to DVD by this machine.

+ Good picture quality on standard 2hr recording and acceptable quality on 4hrs extended play.
Integrates well with Panasonic TV, as you would expect, allowing the TV remote control to start immediate
recording.
Two low power standy modes, 2.4 W and 15W, depending on your setup.
Provides DVD upscaling to 1080p
Good integrated digital TV guide, 7 days ahead.

- If you do a lot of recording, or want to pause and resume live TV, you need the version with a built in Hard disk.
If you start recoding from the TV, and the recorder is in low power standy, then it takes a minute or so, for the recording to get underway.

- The instruction book is a nightmare. I've had the recorder for 3 weeks and I'm still struggling. I've had a Panasonic before and I can't remember being this confused about the set up and features.

+ The panasonic sets up easy and has a good TV guide. Picture quality on the 4 hour setting is excellent (8 hour setting has not been tried yet). There is a low power standby feature that seems good

- The usual hieroglyphics of an instruction manual that doesn't make anything particularly easy. There isn't a clear menu function on the remote control

+ This a great piece of kit, very easy to use. Particularly like the thumbnail pictures of recorded programmes which have sound. The other great point is that you only need one HDMI lead to connect it to the TV, say goodbye to the worst connectors ever invented (by the French), the Scart.

+ I bought this after reading good reviews,the uprating of the picture made a big difference to my TV. but I found it quite difficult to understand the operating instructions. The reviews all said it was easy to set up but I was disapointed with this part if the installation. I had a DVD recorder before this that thought was too complicated, so I expected to be much simpler.I have still to master the Freeview system, up to now it is non-existant.As I am on cable TV this is not a problem for me so I ignore it. + Very easy product to set up & use. Recording from Satallite or Freeview is simplicity itself, but remember to set the source otherwise you get the wrong program recorded. The Vierra Link is great.

DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner

Panasonic has developed the DMR-EZ28 with even higher image quality. Picture quality is better. DVB-T Adaptive Noise Reduction detects and removes the block noise that often occurs in digital broadcasts, to produce beautiful images with minimal noise. And the enhanced quality of 1080p Up-Conversion and rich color gradation of Deep Colour compatibility are seen in deeper, higher-resolution images. The Diagonal Processing automatically detects diagonal lines in motion images, and converts them to sharp lines.

The new VIERA Link function of the DMR-EZ28 is more advanced. Auto Preset Download does away with the need to make channel and other initial the DMR-EZ28 settings. Direct TV Rec. lets the user start recording the TV program that is currently being watched by simply pressing the VIERA Link button on the VIERA remote and selecting Direct TV Rec.

VIERA Link now features a new function where the TV menu screen switches seamlessly to the DIGA menu screen for easy operation. For example, to play a previously recorded programme or to set DIGA to record a future program while watching a TV programme, simply press the VIERA Link button. The TV menu screen automatically switches to the VIERA Link screen. After selecting the DVD recorder on the menu screen, it allows you to use playback functions or set timer recordings on the fly.

In the SP mode recording, 384Kbps high sound quality recording provides audio quality approaching that of commercially available the DMR-EX98V movie software. Even with music containing a wide range of tones, such as orchestral performances, the sound of individual instruments are beautifully reproduced.

The DMR-EZ28 offer the ease and convenience of Super Multi-Format Recording and Playback, which lets users play all of their DVDs, regardless of the recording format. The DMR-EZ28 can record and play back DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW, +R, +R DL, and +RW discs.
