If you want to store and edit lots of video and music the DMREX78 will easily do it.
A real bonus is the USB port on the front - makes moving images and MP3 files from your computer very easy.

- None really - except that it won't read discs that I have burned on my laptop (a Mac), but that may be the fault of the burning software on the computer; so I do it via the USB input.

+ Great when you use it with a panasonic viera TV (only one remote). VFM. 250G. Loads of options to play with. GREAT PICTURE FROM NORMAL DVDs WITH 1080 UP CONVERSION!

- Loads of options means loads of instructions but get through it and it is worth it!! TV planning guide is low quality picture. Both small points but this machine is GREAT overall

- slight time delay when you turn it on from off although you can have it on stand by but that is not very "green".

+ Although the instructions seemed confusing they are well worth spending time to read. They are well written and easily referenced from one process to another. The system is easy to use for basic applications and would seem to have many advanced functions although we have not used them yet. Slim, compact design.

+ Neat and tidy. looks good and has a number of useful bells and whistles. Time will prove whether or not it is truly reliable

- The instructions are a little complicated and not always clear. Seeking info from the index is awkward as their terminology and mine are different. I am computer literate.

+ Excellent clarity of images and audio through both TV and AV 5 channel system. Simple programming guide and operation. Useful to store and play MP3 music, loads of disc space for recording.

- Not so much a bad point as a more useful option, being able to record one channel and record a different one as it only has one freeview tuner. But with other freeview TVs in the house it is not an issue!

+ A well-designed easy to operate piece of equipment. Practically everything about it is good.

- No resume on partly-watched videos (except for the last to be viewed) - but a time slip lets you jump ahead to where you left off (if you remember where that was!)

+ Can do a lot of things, plenty of memory, quiet if you are watching tv otherwise you can hear a hum if the room is silent.

- As it has so many functions it is quite complicated to use if you are to gain the maximum use from it. High speed transfer from HDD to disc is limited in some ways depending on what you are transfering.

+ I had the product highly recommended, and I am looking forward to learning how to use it to it's full potential.

- As a beginner of limited knowledge in the use of the product, which I mainly require to edit video. I would have appreciated a C.D. explaining this particular aspect, I find the instruction manual tends to make one's head spin

+ Picture Quality Beyond Expectations!

+ Tried several similar machines and this is by far the easiest to use.

+ Very good value indeed. Lots of features, probably more than any other unit in its price range. Easy to set up and use straight away. Very comprehensive printed manual with no need to resort to PDF versions as with some manufacturers. All necesssary cables included.

- A number of quirks in menu system which are hard to understand. Keeps dropping back to terestrial TV when you sitch from one mode to another. You then have to press AV to get back to digital TV. Also the programme guide, which is otherwise excellent, is spoiled by the presence of large adverts occupying 1/3 of the screen. Intensly irritating, although functionality is not impaired

- For the price range it would benefit from having twin digital tuners.

+ Easy set-up (does it practically all by itself). Works well - series record, pause live TV, switch between HDD and DVD disc, no problem. Operates TV volume from the EX78 remote control.

- If only they had taken the TV operation from the EX78 remote control just a little further so that it would mute the TV and also change AV input on the TV (it only displays the TVs AV setting).

+ Bought this DVD for our parents so ease of use was the most important issue, set it up gave them a run through of how to use it and they are off

Gives fantastic picture quality even on SP mode.
Recorded about 15 films over the christmas period and still over 80GB left on the hard drive.

- Doesn't seem to eject the disc tray unless you actually select the DVD drive first.
Takes a little while to power on but then we use the power save mode so that's to be expected.

+ From the little time I have had the prooduct it seems fairly easy to operate and was very easy to set up.

Extremely impressed by this machine - one of our best purchases.
