+ User friendly set up.
Extra features explained well in the manual.
Excellent picture and sound out.
Extra Blue Ray content (BD Live) accessed by connecting to my home router. (LAN cable required)

- No HDMI lead provided. I understand that this is common for Blue Ray Players, but why? as HDMI is the preferred connection.

+ Love the picture and sound quality. Sounds great with both analogue AV receivers and HDMI compatible ones.

- Purely aesthetic, but it just looks a bit angular and plain on the front in a way that reminds me of early 90s VCRs! Likewise with the remote - just feels a bit big. Not very elegant.

+ The only reason I didn't give the image quality and overall rating 10's is this is the first Blu ray player I've owned and not had anything to compare it against. Overall I am very happy with it. The image quality and sound is amazing. Crystal clear picture when played at 1080p through my full HD tv and fantastic sound when played through 5.1 system.
Set up was easy. Took me less than 10 minutes from opening the box to playing a film.
Has an ethernet port for connecting to the internat for firmware updates and BD Live which is very handy.

- No coaxial output. Power and eject buttons are on the top of the unit. Other than that no bad points for me.

+ Almost everything. Works as well as any piece of AV equipment I have ever owned. Th video is great and the sound impressive - certainly on uncompressed Blu-ray.

- DVD upscaling has artefacts that my 2 year old, cheap, Pioneer DVD does not.

+ Excellent product which works well with our Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder. Is the only product we know of which recognises video on an SD card. All other products are only geared up to look for photos, so will not play video. Picture and sound quality first class. Upgrades 'old' DVD's very well. Easy to use and works well with our Samsung HD television. (Some reviews said it wouldn't work with Samsung but ours does with no problem at all).

- None.

- a little slow on loading discs, but to be honest a minute is not much time to wait for a superb home cinema experiance.

+ We have not had time to test it out completely but from the little we have seen of it so far, it is fit for purpose and we look forward to using it much more in the coming months

- Had a little difficulty setting it up, we ended up having to buy a splitter cable in the end to enable us to play it at all - which is not ideal but appears to have answered the immediate problem, we just hope we will not get a dispargement on picture quality. This was an added expense and delayed the use of the equipment, plus we were really not sure which cable to get so that took the edge off as well.

+ Superb picture and sound. Good upscaling of good DVDs (but see bad points). Vierra Link control when paired with Panasonic TV.

- Unable to turn off DVD upscaling - "low quality" DVDs, e.g. old camcorder recordings transferred to DVD, actually play worse where the upscaling seems to try too hard to improve things. Keep your old DVD player for these DVDs if you have any.

+ A slim, well priced and impressive little box of tricks. Blu-Ray movies running at 24p are beautifully smooth and crisp. The player case is a nice deep black which will match most new HD televisions, and setting it up is quite simple. The real plus with this unit is profile 2.0 out of the box, which means it should be ready to play all current blu-ray content without the need for firmware upgrade via the internet. It should also be noted that the upscaling on this player is OUTSTANDING, some of my dvd's in standard definition look stunning on my plasma. Nice as a starter unit.

- Poor connectivity at the back, no scart socket and few component outputs. (only 1 hdmi output) The remote control is a confusing mess with the buttons you will be using the most laid out in the wrong place. When I first plugged it into my television I couldn't get any sound, it took me quite a while to look through the manual and the through the on screen menu before I could find the problem (output sound through HDMI) although I realise that this might just be down to my being impatient!!!!

PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus is a high quality image-processing technology developed by Panasonic to precisely process each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc video signal in the vertical direction.
BD-Live lets users access to the Internet to download data such as images and subtitles, and to join in quizzes and multi-player interactive games that are linked to bonus movie content contained on Blu-ray disc. *BD-ROM Profile 2. Actual functions vary depending on the Blu-ray disc media.
Simply press the VIERA Link button on the VIERA’s remote control and select “Player” on the VIERA Link Menu screen. The Blu-ray Disc™ player’s menu will display on the TV screen, and you can begin playback of a Blu-ray disc or select from the Blu-ray disc menu.
The DMP-BD35 is equipped with a card slot that makes it easy to transfer images from an HD camcorder or digital still camera that uses SD Memory Cards. Simply insert the card, and the DMP-BD35 fills a large-screen TV with AVCHD-format video images or JPEG stills in full 1920 × 1080 resolution.
